Gaslighting is real, and I am going to establish a new precedent

It sounds like he hasn't been diagnosed with anything, or, more accurately, has been avoiding any attempt to be diagnosed. -
sports FOOTBALL 2019: SMACK TALK & SHIT POSTING
scoobdog replied to 1pooh4u's topic in General Discussion
Targeting has always been illegal (used to be called spearing). Studies have shown that even normally legal tackles, particularly those that are at speed can still cause brain injury. Really, we can go at this forever: the point isn't to specifically demonize the sport as it is - I'm just pointing out that aggressive football players that exhibit problematic behavior is part of the "acceptable" risk that comes with the sport as its currently formed. -

That is not true. You need to socialize to survive. At some point, you will have to learn how to deal with other people in a cooperative manner even if it's something as simple as going to the grocery store. -

You're missing something. In particular "Playing your heart out" includes tackling, does it not? -
An obvious lie.

But what is sportsmanship when it comes to a violent sport? Setting aside the obvious issues surrounding things like domestic violence and abuse, those things that have global social ramifications, where is the line between acceptable and unacceptable aggression? -
sports Ok so Mason Rudolph just got assaulted by Myles Garrett
scoobdog replied to That_One_Guy's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps what we should be discussing is why Myles Garrett was as aggressive as he was. There are limits to rationality that can be applied, especially when it comes to a sport where it has proven that most, it not all, of its players endure some form of traumatic brain injury. -

Not really, no. Like you said, using a helmet as a cudgel is disproportional regardless of what Rudolph said so what he said has no bearing. -

There were some subtle clues that there was more than just him tugging on his helmet. -

I seem to recall Garrett being vague when offering his apology immediately after the incident. He wasn't accusing Rudolph or anyone else of anything, per se, but it really seemed odd that he would lose his cool like that especially after its clear that there is jawing just before he starts swinging. So, it doesn't seem unlikely that Garrett at least sincerely thought Rudolph used the epithet before he started swinging. Regardless of whether or not it was acceptable, an indefinite ban is not in line. It amounts to Goodell being like a parent that tell his kids that he'll "reconsider" an indefinite grounding as soon as he thinks the've learned their lesson. There are a lot of problems with this approach, and it does nothing to address the larger issue of aggression American football. -
My friend got a visit from the FBI earlier today.

And therein lies the central issue. Very few jobs exist where you don't have the ability to interact with other people, and I can imagine that limits your appeal. So, what would you need to make it so that you would be willing to interact with other people? For instance, if you enjoy being a loner, what situation would allow you to be that and still interact with other people in a cordial fashion? This is just a hypothetical exercise. -

Yeah... I don't think it's background checks that are doing this. You come across as a really angry individual, and most people pick up on that right away. So the question is: what about you makes you worthy of being hired? I mean you must have some idea about the specific skills you have that make you a good employee. -

What @Vampedis saying is right, but you can't get to that next step until you do something about that anger you're harboring. I, for one, don't think you're making excuses to be lazy, i think you're making excuses to fuel the anger that gets you through the day, and some of that anger is justified at least initially. If you feel you're being ostracized, you naturally learn how to cope with abuse by relying on your own devices, and that's leading you down a path of attempting to destroy as much as you can rather than build something for yourself. You mention that there is an Oregonian law that disqualifies violent offenders. What crime were you convicted of that would disqualify you in that way? -

I mean it is seeing as it's coming out now, but it's not that unbelievable that one dude might actually be stupid enough to say something like that out loud. -
Is that any way to talk to your pet?

Where are the FBI Agents?!

Lol. So.... instead of them actually saying on your paycheck that your premium is "taken" out, you just get paid practically nothing and they send you to a guy who's office is behind a bowling alley.
