  2. Nice to see that Miami, once again, doesn't play a NFC North team on the road in December. /s
  3. The run from the main to the house is usually buried below the freeze line. If your worried, you might check what that is for your area, then see if the city your in puts the pipes below that. If they're lower, then the feed to the house & the water heater should be fine.
  4. I'm having a great day! I just learned that if you spell my surname in Cyrillic with an X (Kh - like in Khristos) instead of a Г (H) as the first letter, it means "BADASS" in another language. 😆
  5. Yeah, let's go with that... on a serious note - do not heat those pipes, let them warm up slowly, or you risk cracking it.
  6. So...your water didn't break?
  7. I went out to clear the sidewalk and refill the bird feeders and found a dead bird at the front door. The cold was just too brutal for the poor thing.
  8. I know it's supposed to be a joke, but it ain't...
  9. We were supposed to have a high of 3F, but the most we got was -3F. Wind Chill started at -37F, we're at -29F now. It took from 6 am to 2:30 pm for the furnace to bring the temp in the house up 5 degrees. I had forgotten to partially shut the vents upstairs and open them fully in the basement.
  10. 8:37 pm - -4F, real feel -27F. The wind is supposed to really pick up tonight & last through 6pm tomorrow. Edit: just looked at the latest storm warnings and there's one for now through 10 pm tomorrow and one for now through 6 am Saturday.
  11. From Eastern Ukraine to Washington D.C. and the obligatory Russian B.S.
  12. 9?? Last I heard our high here is supposed to be 0 F...and OH THOSE 55MPH wind gusts!
  13. He's currently asking on Twitter if he should step down.
  14. When I was taking Electronics in college, they had 2 different (university?) groups claim that they found the secret to "cold fusion". Then they went silent. Turned out they were wrong. Hope they're right this time. One of the Profs said that a bucket of water could power a city the size of Chicago for 2 years, or something along those lines.
  15. Russian Convict sent to the Front explains what he went through. Win win for the Russians. Fodder for the frontline. If they escape, they're no longer Russia's problem. Or they just execute them on Ukrainian soil for trying to escape/refusing to fight.
  16. Hanukkah Candles in the Ukraine
  17. There is only one true answer - look in the mirror, that's who.
  18. Reminds me of a Carlin bit.
