  1. No one has to justify it if they're absolved from responsibility. Insurance line was a poor women from another country just trying to follow a script. Provider billing line lady said they can't challenge an insurance determination and didn't know/care about the network status of the nurse because that's an issue for the providers office. And the lady on the provider's office line said it was an issue for the billing office that already rebuffed me. If no one takes the blame, surely no one was at fault.
  2. without giving it away, let's say they've built an empire and it's the color blue
  3. And Arlen Specter did great things for the national Dems when he flipped, but he became toxic to GOP voters and Dems rewarded him by voting for a real Dem in the primary. It's rarely ever a great long-term play.
  4. my guy you live on the other side of the country, you're about as far away from my doctor as can be
  5. Honestly I might change just because they fucked up like half they referrals they've done for me

  8. They said "the doctor is unavailable but you can still meet the nurse practitioner." They didn't say "the doctor is unavailable but you can meet the nurse practitioner but it's a mystery whether it will be covered so check into it first because we surely aren't." In the grand scheme of things, it's not worth $1000 out of pocket just to find out I have a Vitamin D deficiency and slightly elevated cholesterol. WHEN I'M ALREADY PAYING FOR INSURANCE TO PAY FOR ME.
  9. In the past, electeds would switch party out of self-preservation. The obvious example is Arlen Specter (PA) flipping and giving the US Senate Dems their supermajority in 2009. He knew he'd lose as GOP but lost the 2010 Dem primary anyways. But from what I see, this was a comparatively safe Dem district but she had personal grievances against the party.
  10. Annual physical in December is rescheduled. "The doctor will be unavailable, but you can meet with the nurse practitioner if that's fine." Me: "sure why not" Nurse orders some tests, telehealth call in January to go over results. Insurance Notice: YOUR CLAIM HAS BEEN DENIED AS THE PROVIDER IS OUT OF NETWORK, YOU OWE $600. Me: hey I got this notice that says that the nurse I saw who works for my in-network primary care physician is out-of-network, this seems wrong. Insurance call center girl: are you sure you went to the same office? (Uh... Yeah.) I don't see her showing up when I look them up. (Well she was definitely there.) Oh wait I see her on the doctor's website, I will submit an appeal and send this link that shows she works there. TWO WEEKS LATER Insurance Notice: WE HAVE PARTIALLY ACCEPTED YOUR APPEAL. YOU VISITED AN OUT-OF-NETWORK PROVIDER BUT WE'LL SPOT YOU $200 Provider Billing: I can't help you, you have to call the office itself. Provider Office: I can't help you, you have to call billing. (I did and they said they can't help and to call you.) I will put in a note but you may not hear back for a couple weeks. new Insurance Call Center girl: Ah yes, your claim was denied and you owe the remainder. Would you like me to send you a list of in-network providers in your area?

  16. It's going to slip under the radar due to the Trump stuff today, but earthquake news from Wisconsin: https://twitter.com/SplitTicket_/status/1643428667983556608 If they follow in the reverse footsteps of NC, where the Republicans flipped the court and immediately reversed all of its recent rulings including on gerrymandering, the new Wisconsin court will probably do the opposite and force competitive maps there for the first time in eternity. Maybe a Michigan part 2? UPDATE: The GOP appears to have held onto an open Senate seat to restore their supermajority, and they've already bounced around the idea of impeaching Protasiewicz to prevent her so the fireworks may not be over yet. https://twitter.com/SplitTicket_/status/1643444263525711872 UPDATE x2: Apparently impeachment doesn't apply to judges, which has a separate removal process that requires supermajorities in both houses (which WI GOP don't have). https://twitter.com/IanJJamison/status/1643446995619545097

  21. The links are in the DA tweet I linked earlier and I skimmed them at the end of work a few hours ago. But it looked like each of the charges ties to an individual check (the alleged fraudulent reimbursements to Lawyer A were broken up into monthly installments). So it's not that one big crime was broken up into 34 bits, it's that the crime was repeated that many times. That would mean it's an up or down question, either it was fraudulent to cover up another crime or it wasn't. If it's not, he's off the hook. If it is, he's on the hook x34.

  24. We still haven't seen any of their materials yet, and USDOJ guidance is completely irrelevant to state prosecutions.
