@eklipse i know you're a PoGo expert so wanted to connect you here in case you on the hunt for new friends etc.

I don't have any personal connections so I'd have to rely on you and/or others before any shameless plugs - I'm not looking to poach people so if they fully intend to bring it back up in the near term, then it's probably not in the cards. But if it's just an absolute mess and they'd be amenable to consolidating with an equally old and tangentially similar community, then that'd be pursuable.

Pretty sure they already announced ages ago that payments would resume this summer regardless of how the decision comes down. So this just codifies that and maybe expedites it a little bit. Moving the rest of the student loan stuff to the actual student loan thread.

If it's a terminal thing, we could totally home them here and kind of grow by consolidating that way. I'm just not the expert.

McCarthy trying to claim it doesn't have a single thing for the Dems to be happy about to lock in GOP support and Biden trying to claim all of his accomplishments remain intact to lock in Dem support. It's a milquetoast deal that reflects a complete lack of leverage, but will also require moderates from the minority party to carry the deal across the finish line. But if it collapses, it's the end of McCarthy.

I keep pinging and ponging back and forth on whether to keep them or use them on special [as] occasions and do our own thing. We have all of the old UEMB ranks but they were never threaded together after the software switch in 2017. It does happen to be a massive pain in the ass.

The real hump to get over was that the site auto-logged you out if the last page you opened had been sitting inactive for more than an hour.

I threaded these vintage ASMB ranks together earlier this week. Same post count and reg. date requirements. No page views/minutes logged in, because the software doesn't record those like Lithium did.

Agree. I know I took this in a different direction than he planned and made decisions that directly counter what he would have wanted, but I still feel like I'm a temporary caretaker tbh.

The debt ceiling deal will put an end to the pause, 60 days after signing, into statute. I don't recall off the top of my head when it was originally set to terminate.
