As big a whiff as Fixed was, blaming that for Western Animation's problems and not the migration of the audience to Japanese animation, increasingly expensive personal projects that flop at the box office and on streaming (Oh hai Eilo), and writers that feel increasingly focused on personal grievances and an existing audience that agrees with their beliefs over any sort of broader fandom feels misguided at best. When a bunch of 40 and 50somethings are asking me, the (relative) kid of the group what the hell Demon Slayer is because there are ads for the movie all over cabs, but the next production from the Owl House lady after that flopped is an indie show mostly about her whining that Disney saw Owl House was unpopular and canceled it, that to me does more damage to Western animation than the dog balls movie. When Netflix's big next project is Ricky Gervais (who I can't really stand, the self-righteous prick), gets his animated project which is literally just "Fixed with cats" greenlit because he's a comedian with some clout, that hurts more than an artist-driven movie, even if it is about dog balls.

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/09/warner-bros-sues-midjourney-to-stop-ai-knockoffs-of-batman-scooby-doo/ Betcha thought it was fun to make art with weird proportions of Batman and the guys from Supernatural. Not so funny now, is it?

This is why Adult Swim never really does anything for its anniversary.

There’s only so much even the greatest auteurs can do when the only animation being made in-house these days are video game adaptations desperately pretending to be Japanese but failing because the boobs are all too small, or vehicles for comedians who don’t want to do stand up comedy tours. And make no mistake, Genndy is one of the last great auteurs from that era that is still active and hasn’t been disgraced. Even American comics are begging people to have Japanese studios animate them. Over the past few months, there’s been rumors Robert Kirkman’s (Invincible, Walking Dead) next big project will be an adaptation of his Energon Universe comics. And everyone has made it clear they want Studio Trigger to animate it, not the people who are doing Invincible. To me that’s telling that everyone thinks Western studios suck that much ass (and Trigger has repeatedly asked to do a Transformers project) that people want them to do Transformers and G.I. Joe.

Pork spareribs, coleslaw and cornbread. -
I found and texted a listing only to immediately discover it was a fake because the scammer couldn’t be bothered to match the details from the sales records to the fake listing.

Fit for TV - The Reality of The Biggest Loser. It’s a very…interesting story as someone who was fat as a kid and who got much thinner in college and as an adult, and as I’m getting older, am doing my damndest to try and not slow down. -
