  1. Ok, panel has begun and it is fully virtual. No set release date, just sometime in 2022. Suzuki has admitted he would want to make adaptations of Outrun (as a sort of Cannonball Run style project) and Space Harrier. The moderator mentioned Yakuza and Suzuki got ice cold for a second. This is made with Sega’s blessing, presumably like Shenmue 3, even if not directly published.
  2. Now they’re playing the trailer for the new Resident Evil movie…
  3. Debuted earlier at NYCC to a packed stage. Also Piccolo will be a major character which is going to be fun.
  4. 20 minutes to showtime and the pre-recorded footage has already begun to play. Whoops. Not a huge crowd for this. I imagine FUNimation’s quarterly review of their products is getting way more attention, and the new Dragon Ball movie filled the main hall earlier.
  5. I believe so. Edit - No, ticketed. But afterwards it should be available.
  6. Baki was weird since it for years was just something that was somewhat popular but had a cult following, then it airs on Netflix and ironically or not, becomes a legitimate mega hit on the same playing field as stuff like Money Heist. I adore over performance.
  7. Panel is today at 5:15pm. Virtual screening here. I will be reporting semi-live. https://www.findthemetaverse.com/
  8. This season has in no particular order -
  9. Toonami doesn’t have something that breaks the mold and makes it appointment television. At least Netflix has people flocking to Baki Hanma.
  10. Not sure how people are taking to this show even 9 episodes in, but I do applaud it for not trying to be completely stereotypically "anime" like a lot of co-productions are want to do sometimes. It's the generic stuff that gets copied to hell. Copying pirates is a unique approach. Of course I'm still waiting for Powerhouse to make a James Bond faux-anime that ends up resembling Golgo 13. They have at least a dozen books released during the 80s and 90s that they could use for plots.
  11. More than you'd think. You don't people are hyped for The Batman trailer? Or the new Suicide Squad game?
  12. It’s weird hours, that’s for sure. Meanwhile Baki is in the US Top 10 shows on Netflix.
  13. https://collider.com/top-10-netflix-tv-shows-list/ When it comes to anime, Americans want it loud and full of people hitting each other in the face. Also Squid Game proves Bong Joo-Ho’s one statement true.
  14. I am genuinely surprised Netflix hasn’t tried remaking this yet.
  15. So it’s coming before Shenmue. Which is at NYCC next week so I plan to report on it.
  16. The DuMont network? That’s a deep cut. So does that make old Toonami the AWA?
  17. Where the hell else is the money supposed to come from? Crunchyroll is Sony’s now.
  18. You automatically go to that reasoning, when it’s a simple matter of one night events getting people’s attention. It’s not 2003 anymore. Trust me, I need to remind myself on occasion.
  19. That one was a co-production with Nick. It might be a bit taboo to air on the rival network.
  20. This is the most batshit amazing Batman animation ever and I hope more people enjoy it.
  21. Apparently Mr. Saito had an ending done and ready to go, just in case. He discussed it even as the comic was ongoing. I expect it may be deployed.
  22. I’m sure CR is happy on their end, they aren’t running a linear channel. Although we have no idea how Fena is doing for CR, do we? Next week we see our first look at the other two shows from the very short lived partnership Toonami had with Crunchyroll, Blade Runner Black Lotus (which given the franchise I have no idea how people will react) and Shenmue (which I fully expect to have a dub so bad you could replace it with 22 minutes of drowning cats, and Shenmue fans will refuse to have it any other way). So at least we have something to look forward to.
