I’ve been thinking about this for a few months, particularly as I see a lot of writers and people who can’t draw going to town on this in communities that would otherwise require spending a large amount of cash on commissions from artists willing to tackle the material. For a fraction of the cost, dozens of images are now strewn out. The worrying thing is how fast does the AI develop? It’s still not there to completely replace real people (John Oliver demonstrated this a few weeks ago during the final episode of his season). Now it’s a cute toy, a novelty. If the AI ever develops to make complex scenarios instead of a person standing there, then things are going to get much dicier.

Look I hate door to door salespeople too, but jeez.

Elon Musk now owns Twitter, apparently trying to run it into the ground

Blah blah blah Hunter laptop is sure to bring back those advertisements. -
Bottle Shock - 7.5/10. A fairly standard docudrama boosted by a good cast, including Bill Pullman and the late, great Alan Rickman. It helps everyone is mostly likable and sympathetic.

The Mario movie poster is revealed, trailer to hit Thursday

The whole thing…kind of looks like shit. It would be fine if it was a bunch of shorts, but as a movie? Apparently Nintendo knows this is going to be a turkey which is why they founded Nintendo Studios a while back, to do all this in-house. -
Someone isolated the opening (but you should watch the documentary, she’s the same sleuth that finally discovered the Toon Makers Sailor Moon pilot, and she’s quite good at what she does). You know why this wouldn’t have worked, because all the obvious reasons from the animation? Because Spanish language TV was already airing Saint Seiya, with blood and cursing. If you thought the kids watching uncut DBZ on Telemundo were smug, imagine the Spanish speaking kids dunking on the gringos who thought Guardians of the Cosmos was something fun to watch after Captain N reruns.

King Star King and Ballmasterz specials slated for February 2023

They actually removed Minoriteam from their website completely after 2020. Scrubbed. Gone completely. Only World Peace faced a similar fate. They’re not proud of Assy or Mongo on a technical level, nor should they be, but they didn’t scrub either. -
A combination of DeMarco being so late to the party that when he arrives everyone has left and the booze is gone, and the usual LOL Crunchyroll antics would keep Blue Lock off Toonami…when it would be a perfect World Cup tie-in. Maybe I’m just thinking about it because Japan has a chance, albeit a slim one, to advance to the knockout round. Edit - Japan is in the knockout stage. Blue Lock memes are sweeping the internet. Toonami missed an opportunity but it was probably Crunchyroll’s fault.

Everyone loved Korgoth, but when a season would have been literally 1/3 of the entire [adult swim] budget in 2004, it wasn’t going to get picked up. Meanwhile Mongo was called the second worst show ever made by AS, according to Williams Street (worst was apparently Assy McGee). -
I hated it when it was on [adult swim] mostly because I was in full “Fuck Adult Swim Action” mode at the time. I ended up watching it on Hulu years later and quite enjoyed the original series. Unfortunately everything after the original series is a sliding scale of missing the point and lowered quality. Basically the FLCL sequels, but somehow worse (so far anyway).

Yes, odds are this would be followed by that awful Double Dragon cartoon. The early 90s were a weird time for animation. Until about 97, the general feeling at most animation studios was that Western designs were superior and Americans wouldn’t accept Japanese designs. Hence all the redrawn video game covers.

I’m really hoping they publish the tax records now that they have them. Those oughta be fun to see.

Live Action One Piece, from sheer confusion to Season 2 renewal.

No, you’re right. That was a bit too much. I just want that equivalent of that scene where people know anime adaptations won’t all suck, (essentially the equivalent of Superman catching the helicopter or “I’m Batman.”). Maybe I shouldn’t be looking for it in One Piece. But there’s always that fear of hearing “Welcome to the Ouch!” again. -

Trailer #2, with a lot of references and Charlie Day nailing Luigi. Everything else though, you can tell these are the Minions people. -
I remember the Nobu in a Miami hotel. That was some shock since I was used to some good New York sushi places where the portion was a lot bigger.
