They actually removed Minoriteam from their website completely after 2020. Scrubbed. Gone completely. Only World Peace faced a similar fate. They’re not proud of Assy or Mongo on a technical level, nor should they be, but they didn’t scrub either.

A combination of DeMarco being so late to the party that when he arrives everyone has left and the booze is gone, and the usual LOL Crunchyroll antics would keep Blue Lock off Toonami…when it would be a perfect World Cup tie-in. Maybe I’m just thinking about it because Japan has a chance, albeit a slim one, to advance to the knockout round. Edit - Japan is in the knockout stage. Blue Lock memes are sweeping the internet. Toonami missed an opportunity but it was probably Crunchyroll’s fault.

Everyone loved Korgoth, but when a season would have been literally 1/3 of the entire [adult swim] budget in 2004, it wasn’t going to get picked up. Meanwhile Mongo was called the second worst show ever made by AS, according to Williams Street (worst was apparently Assy McGee).

I hated it when it was on [adult swim] mostly because I was in full “Fuck Adult Swim Action” mode at the time. I ended up watching it on Hulu years later and quite enjoyed the original series. Unfortunately everything after the original series is a sliding scale of missing the point and lowered quality. Basically the FLCL sequels, but somehow worse (so far anyway).

Yes, odds are this would be followed by that awful Double Dragon cartoon. The early 90s were a weird time for animation. Until about 97, the general feeling at most animation studios was that Western designs were superior and Americans wouldn’t accept Japanese designs. Hence all the redrawn video game covers.

I’m really hoping they publish the tax records now that they have them. Those oughta be fun to see.

No, you’re right. That was a bit too much. I just want that equivalent of that scene where people know anime adaptations won’t all suck, (essentially the equivalent of Superman catching the helicopter or “I’m Batman.”). Maybe I shouldn’t be looking for it in One Piece. But there’s always that fear of hearing “Welcome to the Ouch!” again.

Trailer #2, with a lot of references and Charlie Day nailing Luigi. Everything else though, you can tell these are the Minions people.

Waste of cash on both ends. King Star King is one of the most reviled things ever made by Adult Swim (it didn’t help that the original press releases drew parallels between it and Korgoth of Barbaria) and Ballzmasterz is…balls. King Star King annoys me more because Tommy Blancha has made nothing but duds for Adult Swim. Remember Mongo Wrestling Alliance? I suppose we’re about 20 years too late to revive Korgoth though.

DeMarco’s gotta be feeling the pressure though. He finishes a show and a few months later it’s written off.

If I could rub Matt Owens and the clowns at Tomorrow Studio’s noses in shit, I would. Seriously, go full Hispanic grandmother, rub their noses in it, and go “Aprende!” (Learn!) until they get it or never adapt anime to live action again. We know that anime fans offer ZERO quarter for changes as the Bebop disaster proved. Don’t flush millions down the toilet.
