  1. Mumm-Ra said it was called First Earth a thousand years ago. YOU DOUBT MUMM-RA??
  2. Well whats the point of making 500 incarnations of Superman where Krypton blows up and he gets sent to earth by his parents? Generally you don't mess with an established backstory. Batman's parents always die. Bruce Banner always gets hit by gamma radiation. Peter Parker always gets bit by a spider. Thundercats were aliens whose planet was destroyed and they fled and found our Earth... a post apocalyptic version of it. That was the backstory. Some people weren't happy about the change, I was fine with it. Third Earth... well.... it probably refers to different ages of Earth. Mumm-Ra states that he has been aware of the Eye of Thundera for 1000 years, a time when Third Earth was still called First Earth. They never touch on the issue again.
  3. I never saw Bleach. Give it to ANY studio not named Pierrot and I will watch this reboot.
  4. Here's my question. With modern technology... have we not yet advanced to the point where CGI can look identical to hand drawn art? You figure that would be the first thing they started to work on when CGI got good.
  5. I knew I recognized that image.
  6. Yes but this guy who isn't even working on the show just managed to damage the new show beyond belief by being an idiot. You don't want to be on the side of insulting beloved 80's cartoons. We know they weren't very good now. People don't take kindly to stuff they liked when they were kids being trashed. Especially over something that looks undeniably shitty like Roar. The original He-Man sucked hard and when I was a kid I loved every second of it.
  7. Believe it or not, at the end of its run they started doing Robotech tie ins with the toys. The final episode was setting up a new conflict with an unknown enemy believed to be something from Robotech. So Robotech, not Gundam =P https://www.ebay.com/itm/Playmates-Exo-Squad-Robotech-Zentraedi-Tactical-Battlepod-Boxed-Complete/142778581097?hash=item213e444069:g:2CwAAOSwX61ZC0Cx
  8. He would have been 4... for the final season. He would have been Zero years old when it started. So I just question how strongly he hated something at zero years old. It sounds like he watched it years later when he was well past the intended age and was like WOW this sucks! So corny! Here's the TTG esque remake I'm waiting for. Genocide can be funny!
  9. Didn't see 2012 turtles, what age would you say it was for? Keep in mind TMNT is a much more well known franchise than Thundercats. The original cartoon ran for a staggering 10 seasons. It has had at least 5 live action movies and what... 4 animated shows and a bunch of animated movies? I'm just gonna guess... 20 video games? Thundercats had 2 or 3 video games total. All awful. If they wanted kids to buy Thundercat toys they would have had to advertise the hell out of them, they're not gonna sell themselves like TMNT toys.
  10. CG as in CGI? I usually avoid anything CGI
  11. Who knew hentai artists could be this good? And yes spoiler this link goes to anime porn.
  12. Not enough muscle men DNA in this thread for ya? I can see kids not being into the new Thundercats. There wasn't much that was kiddie about it, it was more like an anime.
  13. Sunrise is Bandai. Outlaw Star just got a DVD release by Funimation and they were Bandai. I'm sure it's low priority for them, but I bet it happens in the next 5 years. Keep in mind it took 2 years to start dubbing Re Zero, one of the hottest anime of the last few years. Sometimes this stuff just ends up taking absurdly long. Don't you say it will never happen or you'll anger Lafiel.
  14. See.... what likely 20 somethings like him miss about 80's cartoons is that they were intended for 5 to 12 year olds. They didn't have complex plots, things got resolved at the end of every episode, no one ever died, and no one ever had sex or mentioned it. No one even really had relationships. It seems obvious that Lion-O would get with Cheetarah... but in roughly 200 episodes they never touched it. When they finally did try killing Optimus prime in the Transformers movie, kids freaked out and absolutely hated it. The reaction was so negative that they altered Duke's death in the Gi-Joe movie by dubbing lines in they said he was going to be ok. Thundercats. He-Man, Gi- Joe, and Transformers were the big ones and all existed solely to sell toys. You can't say that any of them would really "hold up" against more modern cartoons that are intended for all audiences. Especially He-Man.
  15. Then why bother getting the rights to it, there's no way they can release it with the shitty Bandai Entertainment dub it has now. Funimation has the rights... I assume they will do something with it... eventually.
  16. Toonami's inability to get new anime is still their biggest problem. When they do get something new, it's stuff no one really wanted like FLCL or BC.
  17. I liked the VA for Lafiel even though she seemed to talk very slowly. Apparently it was her only anime role aside from Jubei-Chan. I'm still hoping Funimation redubs it at some point.
  18. Nope this is a Crest of the Stars thread now.
  19. Yeah I know we talked about it before. Guess who has the licence to it now? Funimation! It badly needs a redub.
  20. Eh, it's just one of those things that was everywhere in the early days of the internet that's why they're surprised. But you have to consider it was the pre Youtube era, and it was pretty easy to miss stuff like this. I mean Crest of the Stars was on TV, how many of our members remember that?
  21. Keep in mind a lot of our members are probably 20 somethings.
  22. Oh hey speaking of racially miscast characters... Here's Starfire
  23. 78 percent again for Kai... on the last episodes! Doesn't make any sense to me.
