I think Transformers really ate their lunch in the giant robot department. No kids I knew growing up gave a damn about Voltron. Kids would not shut up about the other shows and TMNT when that became a thing.

Well it has horrible retention in the 60's, but it draws about 100k more viewers than the next highest show.

I always felt like Voltron really waned in popularity after the 80's and never really reached the status of He-man, Gi Joe, Thundercats, and Transformers.
