I'm not sure how you get "Black Clover did really badly" out of this when DBZ Kai actually had the biggest loss of the night, at least from what we know so far. Even JoJo's retained better, though that might be because it had weaker lead-in.

Apparently, they're already in filler as of the end of the first episode. And the next canon material isn't until #4... which won't air on Toonami until 2018.

Technically, VRV has the new Yamato. And they'll soon have dubbed Dragon Ball Super as well. So... you know, something about delivery mechanisms.

It must be a matter of pride. These actors must like doing it so much that they'd book a flight to NYC for a different experience. And anime dubbing in general doesn't pay well, so Media Blasters not having much money to begin with probably wouldn't affect things.

Surprisingly, yes. At this point, pretty much all they can get (at least for anime) is really weird shit often overlapping with softcore hentai, such as this and Holy Knight. In fact, the latter point might explain why they recently sold off Kitty Media to someone else... they don't need it anymore.

Presumably no one was in this thread to figure it out, but my previous comment referred to finally finishing up Squid Girl. I ordered the premium box set and it would've shipped out today... but they delayed it until December 26th for quality control reasons. It does suck, especially since it's not the first such delay to happen recently. Sentai pushed a PBS of Haikyu!! back two months for similar reasons, as well as I think one other big product, but I don't remember what it is. Even if I know they care, it's demoralizing to hear. I just hope this isn't an issue of not having everything planned out well enough. Now for some responses:

What does that have to do with the ratings? Aside from, you know, Kakegurui being the alleged hot new Netflix thing I haven't seen anyone talking about.

I'm in the camp that never drops a show because I'm calculated on what I watch. Either someone recommends it to me because it's good or I find out the premise and like it enough to check it out on my own. Of course, even if I'm not a fan of the show, I still feel obligated to finish it... but there's nothing that says you can't take literal years to do so. I put my Akame ga Kill! rewatch on hold because it was starting to get on my nerves after six episodes and giving it new ratings it was no fun. I also slapped My Wife is the Student Council President with an indefinite hiatus because it's basically just porn. But you know how I feel about those.

I just watched the Black Clover trailer. Asta's VA sounds like a poor man's Bryce Papenbrook, but I thought he was competently done. I'm not sure if I could stand a show with such an ingloriously angry protagonist, however, but that's what actually getting down and sampling it is for.

Hey, they're making new ones of these. I watched "Earth" today, during a time where I was very much awake.

I just skimmed the on-demand version of the episode and didn't watch it live, but... did they not mention Black Clover at all during the episode? Not even a promo for it at the very end? What the fuck, guys. And Dragon Ball Super had its new time on there, so I have to wonder what the hell would give for them to not say what changes had occured.

Yeah. Having an active streaming presence means this. I watch Crunchyroll most often through my Wii U. Stuff like that is a much more practical solution than clunky linear website marathons you have to carve out several hours of one day to watch. If an individual [adult swim] app is too niche, do one for all the Turner networks combined. It's not that hard.

One Piece Film: Gold - 7.5/10 More than anything else, it was nice to get acquainted with the franchise once more. I didn't find it overlong, though the final act did drag some and it seemed to contradict the central gimmick of brains not being outmatched by pure strength. Also, the movie had too many references to watersports.

I'm surprised nobody went for the thread (but I did so in a status) if only to call out their Anime Wednesdays.

I think the Lupin replacement will be Knight's & Magic.

Okay, let's give this a try. So I'm going to do it and another episode on Friday. It'll make up for a possible break on the first weekend of December. I mean, I want to do something special... finally wrapping up loose ends and all, but it'll depend on whether or not the box set is in by then. Well, at this point, I really don't know what to think. There's a chance DeMarco could be lying, but I don't think that is for as long as the block keeps expanding like this. Maybe he just wants the ad rates to be low enough so the DSA can advertise during Toonami?
