  1. Somewhat. They probably could've aired it for a while longer, but the arc after that starts a long chain of interconnected plots that apparently keeps going until the time skip. Had they taken it off at any point without advance warning, the viewers would be mad. The sole argument I can make in regards to "Toonami's bad, what if they cancel it?" is pretty much what Sketch said in the linked article. They just keep expanding even when we think the ratings suck. If they really were hurting, there would be a contraction. Should you try to refute that, there's nothing else I can say.
  2. Well, okay then. I'll treat this one as the thread to discuss both of them. I'm surprised it took this long for a Super marathon to happen. Maybe they needed to restructure the contract to allow it?
  3. The Ancient Magus Bride #4 Blend S #9 The Boy and the Beast
  4. I think I'll slide this under the door and leave.
  5. And juuuuust when you thought their Bebop fetish had finally gone away. Though, if this show is somehow more deserving of a marathon than JoJo's, that might be my breaking point with how the block is being run.
  6. Yeah, since Toonami is airing 5 1/2 hours now, and an even higher percentage of the shows are new... that's not going to bode well for some people's viewing habits. I actually think the block could stand to shrink a little right now, and I'll predict it will. As for how it's being run... I am not a fan of the content advisory showing up at half past the hour. It's just unnatural. The very first time Toonami started at 11:30, they aired the opening as normal and the intros began at midnight, which is how it should be. Also, I noticed this week that the bumps were a little screwy. For the DBZ Kai and JoJo's lead-in bumps, they repeated the same footage from the last set with the same music, even though the TOM footage was new. And they accidentally aired a bump for Outlaw Star twice; it was of the "[show name] will return" variety but it aired coming out of the break as well. None of this is a big deal, but I still like to talk about it. Now, discussion points: Black Clover: Yeah... this show'll take some getting used to, whether I decide to actively watch it or not. Surprisingly, even though Black Clover's plot could be taken as an Aesop of why acquired wealth through capitalism is bad, I do think Asta brought this upon himself. Of course, maybe with more kindness and compassion given to him in his youth, and a little bit of assistance, he could've learned to... not be as exaggerated in his youth. But let's see where all of this goes in the next few. Maybe the filler episodes will help establish the show's tone a little better? That could just be optimism, but you never know. JoJo's: Araki missed a chance to make Dan of Steel into a masochistic character. I think that would've been a better utilization of his Stand; it's actually more what I think of when "The Lovers" comes to mind... well, aside from two red hearts spawning on the floor. Outlaw Star: How is this show so good when it pivots to a more casual tone? This one, with the whole crew taking odd jobs around Heifong, was just great. You've got sentient space cactii that everyone is oblivious to until it's too late once they're done with mediocre ice cream! Melfina just stomping the damn thing to death couldn't have been done better.
  7. First of all, DBZ Kai didn't lose that many people. It finished closer to 250K worse. And also, that bottom comment about a Kai rerun doesn't really have to do with anything. I'll save any thoughts I have about this idea for another thread.
  8. Even Poke's seeing Black Clover as a failure this early? Huh... come on. DBZ Kai's total seems a little worse than it is having finished just under a percentile, but it's still bad and inexplicable. It'll be interesting to see if this dynamic holds. Maybe the people watching see there's a new DBZ series on in Super and are going to rest their nostalgia for the original show for a while? The middle portion was rock solid and Lupin even gained off of HxH for once. Hopefully, that means just as much to the block's success as the lead-off doing well.
  9. The iDOLM@STER #9 Akira
  10. I'm not sure how you get "Black Clover did really badly" out of this when DBZ Kai actually had the biggest loss of the night, at least from what we know so far. Even JoJo's retained better, though that might be because it had weaker lead-in.
  11. Apparently, they're already in filler as of the end of the first episode. And the next canon material isn't until #4... which won't air on Toonami until 2018.
  12. Technically, VRV has the new Yamato. And they'll soon have dubbed Dragon Ball Super as well. So... you know, something about delivery mechanisms.
  13. It must be a matter of pride. These actors must like doing it so much that they'd book a flight to NYC for a different experience. And anime dubbing in general doesn't pay well, so Media Blasters not having much money to begin with probably wouldn't affect things.
  14. The iDOLM@STER Episode 8: "Detour to Happiness"
  15. Surprisingly, yes. At this point, pretty much all they can get (at least for anime) is really weird shit often overlapping with softcore hentai, such as this and Holy Knight. In fact, the latter point might explain why they recently sold off Kitty Media to someone else... they don't need it anymore.
  16. The Ancient Magus' Bride #3 Puella Magi Madoka Magica #11 and #12 (END)
  17. Blend S #8 Puella Magi Madoka Magica #9 and #10 The iDOLM(@)STER #8 [too much of that A-1 sauce]
  18. I maintain that I saw nothing about it from a litany of notable Twitter users.
  19. Presumably no one was in this thread to figure it out, but my previous comment referred to finally finishing up Squid Girl. I ordered the premium box set and it would've shipped out today... but they delayed it until December 26th for quality control reasons. It does suck, especially since it's not the first such delay to happen recently. Sentai pushed a PBS of Haikyu!! back two months for similar reasons, as well as I think one other big product, but I don't remember what it is. Even if I know they care, it's demoralizing to hear. I just hope this isn't an issue of not having everything planned out well enough. Now for some responses:
  20. What does that have to do with the ratings? Aside from, you know, Kakegurui being the alleged hot new Netflix thing I haven't seen anyone talking about.
  21. I'm in the camp that never drops a show because I'm calculated on what I watch. Either someone recommends it to me because it's good or I find out the premise and like it enough to check it out on my own. Of course, even if I'm not a fan of the show, I still feel obligated to finish it... but there's nothing that says you can't take literal years to do so. I put my Akame ga Kill! rewatch on hold because it was starting to get on my nerves after six episodes and giving it new ratings it was no fun. I also slapped My Wife is the Student Council President with an indefinite hiatus because it's basically just porn. But you know how I feel about those.
  22. I just watched the Black Clover trailer. Asta's VA sounds like a poor man's Bryce Papenbrook, but I thought he was competently done. I'm not sure if I could stand a show with such an ingloriously angry protagonist, however, but that's what actually getting down and sampling it is for.
  23. This one's called the "Chicago shuffle"... The iDOLM@STER Episode 7: "Things I Love, Things That Are Important to Me"
  24. Hey, they're making new ones of these. I watched "Earth" today, during a time where I was very much awake.
  25. I just skimmed the on-demand version of the episode and didn't watch it live, but... did they not mention Black Clover at all during the episode? Not even a promo for it at the very end? What the fuck, guys. And Dragon Ball Super had its new time on there, so I have to wonder what the hell would give for them to not say what changes had occured.
