DeMarco Tweets Toonami's Future Full Of "NEW" Stuff
Blatch replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
That could be interpreted in multiple ways, but maybe it refers to graphic content in a show. As in... children bleeding from their eyes? -
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Episode 29 (Egypt Arc Episode 5)
Blatch replied to Blatch's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Yeah, it is a good ED. Pat Metheny should've gotten more credit for that. I have a feeling Part 5 will use a song from the early 2000's as its ED, as they've generally trended towards the time the show is set (and Vento Aureo is an early 2000's thing)... but I also think a good potential choice would be "21st Century Schizoid Man", because it is a lengthy progressive rock song, and especially since the main villain's stand is literally named King Crimson. And with the sociopolitical lyrics that could reference anything happening in the show, what more could you want? outlaw_star Outlaw Star Final Episode (#26) Discussion
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Maybe it'd just be better if the show had no gay characters at all... since you have annoyingly high standards regarding them. Alternatively, there's a good gay character but the show does a mean-spirited parody of Vegeta. That's how I'd expect things to shake out. -
outlaw_star Outlaw Star Final Episode (#26) Discussion
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Yeah, I definitely sympathize with all who thought the "Seven" were underused as villains. Only one of them ever got any character development, and that was only for her to be killed off at the end of the episode. -
Yeah, even if the wording of "finish out the arc" means they're going to restart Bebop in April (I don't think they would outside of trolling), it's not going to air for an hour, even on the April Fool's schedule. They must have something ready to replace either it or Outlaw Star.

Hunter X Hunter St. Patty's day (Ep 88) discussion!
Blatch replied to mochi's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
I would recommend putting the episode number in here somewhere. -
It figures how it took until a historic upset happened for this thread to become active. And this thing wasn't even close. A two- or three-point upset would've been enough, but why not go for twenty? I did pick UVA to win it all, but... yeah. Villanova winning their second in three years probably would've been a better look.

Huh... those offenses don't sound like MA material to be. Maybe you just put them up here considering that the show is already at the level on violence alone. The iDOLM@STER Episode 19: "Like the Moon, That Disappears Behind Clouds"

FLCL 2 and 3 Titles Revealed And New Image

That doesn't guarantee it'll stay there. And truth be told, I can't see how Re:Zero could air in the first half of the block without moving stuff down. I would say that Toonami isn't going to expand again just four months after the last time, but they have surprised me multiple times in the past, so I guess it could be the case. But I do think Dandy at 2:00 will be just a one-time thing.
-
Make that two of us... at least.
-
Fucking finally. It's going to be awkward for Space Dandy to air one episode at 2:00, and then maybe get preempted followed by probably moving back down when Re:Zero the new show premieres, but there's really no other option.
-
Actually, having thought about it a little, maybe they've decided to stop doing DB Super topicals? I guess they were warranted in the beginning, as it was a major premiere on par with One-Punch Man and the like, but they might not see much reason in them anymore now that its ratings have stabilized. Alternatively, they may just be bored of them.

dragon_ball New Dragon Ball "Ultra" movie announced for December

That's understandable. It just seems to be the focus of everything Super-related you post right now. -

You really need to cool it with this pro-Vegeta stance. With the TV anime ending this month, I have a feeling that this will be an original DBS work. Others have suggested that it might recap one of Super's anime-original arcs, but that would seem rather disappointing for that and it being the milestone 20th (Dragon Ball Z + Super) movie in general. -
I'm not the kind of person who usually has this opinion, but if Toonami does air something for their anniversary on such short notice, they deserve the shitty ratings. The block just isn't being run well right now, and this isn't a good look for them when FLCL 2 is coming soon plus some potentially attention-grabbing shows. At least it's very unlikely their ratings would tank as a result of that... I think.
-
Adding on to the "they haven't aired a Super topical yet" angle... they still haven't, if this generic promo on the BookFace is to be determined. At this point, I'm at a loss as to what's happening. It would be stupid for them to preempt the 3/17 schedule on such short notice so they can air something special; pretty much anything they could air as an anniversary celebration would also work for April Fool's. And I can't see them preempting the schedule on both days. If they don't do something for the latter, the Sunday night schedule is set up so that nothing would be missed. There's no other logical reason for Mike Tyson Mysteries to be preempted (unless they've decided to do so for Easter), and it's the week before Ballmastrz: 9009 premieres. This doesn't really have much to do with the new show, since I guess we've decided it'll premiere on 4/7, but yeah... I'm just not sure.
-
This is something of the point I want to make, actually. Back then, the block wasn't big enough to make announcing shows beyond a week before their premiere a real concern, but that changed with time. And for a pretty long time, it's been normal that Toonami announces a show several weeks in advance, especially when they were really active on the Tumblr. Most shows announced that way would see it happen a month or so before the premiere, but it's slowly degenerated over time. It got to the point where Hunter × Hunter was announced just fifteen days before airing, and it happened again with Black Clover. I hope we're not going back to the former standard, because I do like to see what's coming

Oh wow, I didn't even notice that. But if they really are planning something else, that just makes this rub off as poor planning. This is giving me shades of when it took just ten days before the Bebop rerun was announced, but we all thought they were bringing in an emergency premiere to fix the "awful" ratings. Come on, DeMarco... poor communication kills.
