In the same line, as long as the discussion has shifted to my former working conditions. There was one department manager who fought me and the union tenaciously for two years, trying to flip my schedule from 4pm to 12am and instead have me work from 12pm to 8pm. He finally succeeded. The problem was that he didn't schedule anybody at all to work 4am to 12pm. I walked into a trash nightmare every day, with seven foot piles of trash in areas that were visible to the public. I started going into work at 10am and taking pictures of those piles. Then, the inevitable happened. A senior manager from upstairs came to my department during a preshift briefing and said he wanted to take a few suggestions. I showed him the pictures and said that's what happens when there's no morning shift guy. We'll, hot dog, my schedule was put right back where it belonged and suddenly we had a morning shift guy. I wonder what that senior manager had said to the department manager.

Alright, smartass... how do you lift with your legs when the bag has to be lifted over the rim of a four foot tall trash can and placed in the rolling dumpster, also four feet tall? Remember, the bottom of the four foot long bag has to clear the rims. You lift with your legs when the load starts on the floor.

These are commercial grade bags, not available in retail stores. My lifting? I made you aware before that I was able to lift a fifty pound dumbell over my head with one arm and even posted a video of it. As for casino trash, yes it was part of my argument. I told management repeatedly to switch from glass to aluminum cans. They ignored me. That's negligence as far as workplace safety is concerned.

You don't know much about casino trash. It's mostly liquids and broken glass. That's very heavy stuff. The casino doesn't use small cans.

I know the correct way to lift a heavy thing. Keep the load very close. Unfortunately, that's not doable when working as a janitor. Those 75 or 80 pound trash bags are quite often drippy and slimy. Holding them close wrecks the uniform and could cause fungal infection. I held the bags with arms extended.

I did, back in middle school. 30 feet up. Now? Not with spinal stenosis.
