  1. Earlier this week in FFA, we discussed The Crow. Even though it has been a week since we last discussed both the comic book and the film, I thought I would share James O'Barr's autobiographical video about his comic book, The Crow. Several years ago, I managed to stumble upon this video. For the last 2 decades, I have owned The Crow on VHS and this video is not on it. Therefore, I assume it was put on The Crow DVD a few years ago, after the movie was re-released. When you watch the video, you cannot help noticing the amount of tragedy and adversities, that James O'Barr had to overcome throughout his life. I cannot help sympathizing as well as empathizing with him. Some critics love mocking The Crow and the fanbase, especially when they have no idea the amount of tragedy surrounding Jame O'Barr, the franchise, and Brandon Lee. The fact that Brandon and James became close friends before Brandon's death, and that his life tragically imitated art leaves a long lasting impact. Comic Book Author James O'Barr Shares His Life & Inspiration For The Crow O'Barr Discusses His Personal Catharsis James O'Barr Explains His Art Techniques & Work History James O'Barr Shares Alex Proyas & Brandon Lee's Admiration
  2. Watching the video, you gain a better understanding about his artwork, writing, love life, and about his friendship with Brandon Lee.
  3. Speaking of comic books, Brandon Lee, James O'Barr, and The Crow, if anyone is interested, I could share James O'Barr's autobiographical video in Arts & Literature. Someone uploaded it on YouTube in 4 different parts. Even though it has been a week, since the time this thread was made, let me know if you are interested.
  4. The title of this thread instantly reminded me of the lyrics to Lords of Acid's "The Power Is Mine."
  5. Suddenly, I have Wham's (even though it later became only George Michael's song) "Careless Whisper" stuck in my head. Years ago, Veoh had a video of a Japanese singer covering the song. Too bad it's not on the site anymore.
  6. In celebration of Right Stuf Anime's 31st Golden Birthday, there are discounts. 40 minutes ago, I managed to order the complete series of Shiki for only $10. When you factor in the shipping and handling, it's technically $14.28 or more. It all depends on what you order.
  7. Had Mark Dacascos been casted in the sequels and had there been better writing, The Crow sequels probably wouldn't have sucked.
  8. Yeah, Brandon Lee had been in other movies in both Asia and Hollywood. Had he not been killed, I believe he would've been in more movies after The Crow. As far as the other movies, I only like The Crow and The Crow: Salvation. City of Angels only had a decent soundtrack. Otherwise, the rest of the movies sucked ass. Years ago, I watched the miniseries The Crow: Stairway To Heaven. Mark Dacascos played the role of Eric Draven.
  9. It still doesn't changed the fact, that no professionals were hired to handle the guns and that them sneaking the guns off the set to go shooting with them killed the star of the movie. Because of their antics, an actor, who was about to make it big, was killed and his family, friends, and co-stars were left traumatized and grieving. They had to stop the production of making The Crow and if memory servers me right, they changed movie productions.
  10. Actually, the comic book author, James O'Barr explained the cause of his death at panels years ago. When The Crow was being filmed, there weren't any professionals to supervise the props. James O' Barr learned there were, as he called them, "hill billy electricians" managing the gun props. After hours, they would sneak the guns off the set to go shooting with them and someone hid a bullet inside 1 of the guns because his dumb ass thought nobody would notice. Michael Massee, who played the character Funboy, shot the gun and accidentally killed Brandon Lee in the process of acting in their scene. Massee carried that guilt for years and stopped acting for a very long time because he was traumatized by that incident. He really is not to blame for Brandon's death. Those electricians are to blame as well as the person, who hired them to be a cheapskate. Speaking of Michael Massee, I Googled the actor just a few minutes ago and discovered that he died from Stomach Cancer on October 20, 2016.
  11. Well, it's great to know that I didn't miss much over the last decade. Years ago, critics compared Heath Ledger's death to Brandon Lee's but their deaths were nowhere near the same. It seemed like more critics and fans were hyping up the more recent Batman films because of Heath rather than Christian. Judging by the movie trailers, these other Batman films looked more dramatized. The original Batman franchise was not meant to be serious. That's another reason why I haven't invested time or money to watch the newer films.
  12. I liked when Tim Burton directed the first 2 Batman movies from the late '80s to early '90s. Warner Bros didn't want him filming the rest of Batman Forever (even though he was already in the middle of it) and fired him at the last minute. Because Warner Bros fired Tim Burton, Michael Keaton refused to reprise the role of Batman. This led to Val Kilmer playing the part. I liked watching the first 3 Batman films because they were meant to be campy like TV show. Since I cannot stand George Clooney, I refused to watch those other Batman films. I have yet to watch Christian Bale as Batman. After watching him as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, he makes my blood run cold. This is coming from a Horror fan. LOL!
  13. And they wonder why they can't make more money? All that shit is overkill and has been for the last 15 years. That's partly why I refuse to go movie theaters anymore. Too many remakes, reboots, Marvel, and DC Comics films. Even though it's not a part of Marvel or DC Comics, I am so glad that Hollywood filmmakers are not remaking The Crow. At the risk of sounding like a fangirl of Brandon Lee's and The Crow, that movie needs to be left ALONE.
  14. The complete series of The Wallflower just came in the mail today. I'm so excited. If I have a chance to buy Shiki from RightStuf before this month ends, I will be satisfied.
  15. Looks like I didn't find a decent cover of Fear Factory's "Cyberwaste." However, I really like Tetrarch's cover of Slipknot's "People = Shit." So nostalgic. Anyway, have fun!
  16. Out of some of the covers of Gerard McMann's "Cry Little Sister" I have heard, Aiden's cover is the most tolerable. If Marilyn Manson's vocals on the cover didn't make me cringe, I would've said he nailed it. The only thing Manson got right was the children's choir. Otherwise, NO! The original version will always be the best from The Lost Boys Soundtrack.
  17. I forgot about Stone Temple Pilots' cover of Led Zeppelin's "Dancing Days."
  18. Here's another Apocalyptica cover of a Metallica song. "Harvester Of Sorrow"
  19. Don't feel bad. Neither do I. This is the most I've been on this site in quite a while. Usually, I'm really busy with other shit on and offline.
  20. There's not a single cover of Wham's "Careless Whisper" that comes close to the original. Too bad YouTube deleted Foo Fighters' cover of Prince's "Darling Nikki." Those bastards!
  21. I thought everybody found out, last summer.Hi!
  22. Oh, shit! Now, I'm crying! Damn it, Aaron! Now, I've gotta make it through Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston's covers. I can't believe nobody bothered to post these 2 songs by them. Guess, I'll be that poster to do it. Mariah Carey's cover of Michael Jackson's "I'll Be There" And Whitney Houston's cover of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You"
  23. There's something about listening to Aaron Lewis from Staind, that always had Staind fans bawling their eyes out at their concerts. Can't say he never evoked emotions in covers and in his own songs. Here's Staind's Aaron Lewis covering Pearl Jam's "Black" And Aaron Lewis' cover of Alice In Chains' "Nutshell"
  24. Dope's cover of Dead Or Alive's "You Spin Me Round" Van Halen's cover of Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman"
  25. Now, I have Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" stuck in my head. Anyway, here's The Red Hot Chili Peppers' cover of The Ohio Players' "Love Rollercoaster."
