The April Fool's Day 2018 Discussion Thread
PurgatoryGirl replied to Blatch's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Don't be fooled. Yes, I can be bossy, ball-busting, and demanding. However, I am NOT a man. Much like Hellsing's Sir Integra, who was born and raised FEMALE, I am a woman. -

It is very surprising to see English Subtitled Anime on Adult Swim. Throughout the years, they always made it a point to mock their Anime viewers with promos of Weeaboos cosplaying as characters from Adult Swim Anime. I have no problem watching Anime subbed or dubbed. However, I was expecting to watch Stardust Crusaders and Shippuden. As for FLCL, I was never a fan of the series years ago and still find the series to be overrated and hyped. There have been plenty of titles released over the years, that Adult Swim overlooked. While this movie airs, I will be watching something else. -
Actually, no I haven't. Whenever I hear songs and watch music videos now with Ronnie James Dio in them, I start laughing and yell "It's DIO!" Dio Brando comes to mind these days. Generally speaking, the same applies to Lisa-Lisa, REO Speedwagon, Paula Abdul, Iggy Pop, etc. Watching their music videos on MTV Classic makes me laugh because I started associating them with JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It makes me wonder if any of these artists and bands know, that there are Anime characters named after them.

Black Clover Page 15 Discussion
PurgatoryGirl replied to mochi's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
The only reason an Anime gets 12-13 episodes is because they are testing it out with their Japanese viewers. They are unsure how many will like and dislike it. In order for it to have a full season, it must be 23 or so episodes long. 12-13 episodes is only 1/2 season. If more Japanese viewers like the series, they will get an additional 12-13 more episodes. Just like American viewers dictate the ratings in our country, the same applies to Japan and other countries. -
I believe the main reason Toonami still exists is because it mostly panders to fanboys still clinging to their childhood nostalgia from the late '90s. When the block was launched on Adult Swim, fans spent most of their time throwing tantrums about not having the Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece franchises. It seems like the ratings are only high for certain Shonen Jump Action Anime because Jason DeMarco spends most of his time catering to them. If It's not Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, etc, they don't want to watch it. They don't seem to like much of any Seinen Anime with ADULT characters. They would rather watch a more juvenile series with juvenile characters.
