Just have to say, lately I've been coming across tons of weird little cosmic coincidences. Most involve names, dates, or media. I bring it up here because a significant part of that is the Xenoblade series. One of the writer's on this was named Tetsuya Takahashi. Complete coincidence, that's also the name of Xenoblade's creator (completely different person). These both are heavily focused on multiverses. Rick and Morty has been a running joke in my friend group. My best friend and I have been on the haterade since season 2 and Pickle Rick is so unbelievably dumb, that it's looped around to its own idiotic meme status. My soulmate (probably), who is the center of this cosmic shit, is in a video of a poetry reading I saw nearly 10 years ago. I've never brought up the video, but her performance in it was one of the most important things toward me eventually having way more than a crush on her. At one point, she gets excited to tell an audience member, as she put it, "the joke about the pickle." The video doesn't have her tell the joke. I need to know the joke about the pickle. If the joke involves turning himself into a pickle, I'm actually going to lose my fucking mind.

I'm arguing with people over whether or not a translation is inherently worse based solely on how faithful it is to the original. I asked: if the translator is correcting a narrative plothole, one we are assuming to be a real error, would the corrected script be worse on the basis of a change when that change was objectively fixing an error? They went on a rant about it never being a localizer's job to make that call (that's literally their job) without the author's consent, which I think is an absurd standard when applied to reality. They ended their rant with a non-hypothetic in which they described a fictitious scenario to highlight their point....

For no fucking reason whatsoever, my new ass fucking computer stopped picking up audio from my mic. I've tried multiple mics with different connection types and different ports, restarting, reinstalling drivers, checking privacy (doesn't have the fucking option in settings, so I have to try Safe Mode, and the bullshit motherfucking pile of shit window closes as soon as I click into the microphone privacy settings while in Safe Mode). My class asks us to not do system restores or I'll potentially have to reformat the whole fucking computer.

Localization isn't all about accuracy to the source material. That's not the primary goal. It should be kept in mind, but localizing is making it accessible to a different locale. That's what it's called, and liberties will always be necessary. I'm having a conversation with someone so pretentious they would complain about how they want what the origin got but in English bevause "if I wanted to buy a western artist's work, I would." Bro, you're buying a translation. That's a western artist's work! I'd rather have a less accurate version that fixes problems or gives bland writing some personality. Some people genuinely want worse work out of arbitrary purity tests. I'm not suggesting to disregard the source, but it's a different person's interpretation. It's going to be different, and if they don’t implement some personality of their own, it's often going to come out without one in translation.

No, no, no. He plead the 6th. His/Her Honor told him that was the wrong one, but Packard would be the judge of that.

Well.... Have a birthday, Packard!

I keep returning to this when realistically I should be checking out Uzumaki instead. As a so bad it's good connoisseur, this is more fascinating than it qualifies as reaching that coverted title. You had a terrible idea to draw in new viewers with an anime that demands context, but within that context is also incoherent, dumb, and barely resembles what fans would want. People complain about the art, yet that's the least of it's issues. Even in continuity with the source, these characters can't seem to land on how they feel about Rick. It's always laced with praise for his reliability, yet by this point in the show..... they all fucking hate Rick. It doesn't work independently, and it doesn't work as a bigger whole. At this point, I'm only watching to see the exponential build up of failures, and frankly, I don't know if I can manage when the show manages to be dangerously boring despite all the intriguing peculiarities.
