Well, that was disturbing. I just opened a NY Times article about the war and I first noticed the picture they put above the headline. I thought it was a picture of a soldier's uniform on the ground, but apparently it was the body of a Russian soldier squashed flat, Judge Doom-style, by a tank, I guess.

I'm starting to think I was wrong. The voters who choose a GOP primary don't care about winning a general election. They are voting out of emotion and stupidity.

I just turned on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" and one of the Congressmen who supports this UFO investigation was being interviewed. Within two minutes, he mention "cocaine found at the White House", referred to a SCIF as "the James Bond thing where you don't get to take your cell phone or FitBit" and talked about a T-shirt he has for sell on his website. This UFO stuff is not serious. This is Marjorie Taylor Greene-level politicians doing what they THINK Congress does. The Congressman I saw on TV probably believes there are cryptids living in his backyard.

I've also heard presyncope, a.k.a. near fainting.

I suspect by "main thrust" they mean "Ukraine has started using its reserves now". I think the operation Ukraine tried in early June when the counteroffensive first started was also supposed to be a main thrust but it failed.

1. There is intelligent life somewhere else in the universe. 2. Human beings will never encounter them. This is a realistic possibility.

I had an acquaintance once who considered himself a proud conspiracy theorist. It was fascinating listening to him because he and I have totally different definitions of "knowledge". Epistemology, the philosophy of knowledge. He would begin with an assertion, assuming it was true and then almost never concede it wasn't because anything could be true. I, and I think most people, don't automatically assume assertions are true until evidence proves it to be. Epistemology plays a large role in whether you think extraterrestrials are a real thing or not.

Americans are in a weird place right now. Extraterrestrials and AI. I'm mostly sure neither pose any existential risk to anyone.

Here's a theory from an expert saying Putin will not do anything to escalate the Ukraine war for the next few months because March 2024 is an election in Russia ( an "election" ) and Putin wants to be seen an the nice guy to Russians leading up to it.

Yeah. Reading his biography, he has an obsession with the online domain X.com, owning it when he was exec at the financial company that would eventually become PayPal. When he got fired from that job, he re-bought the domain years later. He's thought a company named "X" would be a good idea for decades. It's all strange.

In all seriousness, the thing I heard about "Barbie" is that it is a Barbie movie in the same way "Blazing Saddles" is a Western. It's supposedly very self-aware and sardonic. Which sounds pretty interesting.
