The past month and a half, I have not been strictly following a low calorie diet like I planned, but I've still lost like 4.5%. Just taking the medicine and doing nothing else causes weight loss, probably because it changes your behavior around eating. I've noticed that I can no longer eat as much in one sitting as before. I almost always leave food on my plate when having a meal.

You probably shouldn't take random YouTube accounts as news.

rep. from alabama blocks usmc nomination
Icarus27k replied to discolé monade's topic in Current Events
The Senate needs to be more democratic. That is, get rid of the rule that senators can hold up nominations. The rules that worked before have been abused and need to be changed. -

Remember back during peacetime (1990s to 2000s, what some people dubiously call the unipolar moment) when accession to NATO was determined by the rigorous test of "eh. the more the merrier, welcome to the club guys"?

Is anyone going to switch to Threads as a Twitter alternative? Zuckerberg seems significantly less evil than Musk. -

I've watched before, but it's been years ago. This thread gives me the excuse to look it up and re-watch. -

My Adventures with Superman has some "word of mouth" attention going on. I see people bringing it up on social media when we're talking about unrelated things. I kind of like where it's going.

WIT Studio and DC teaming up to bring us more Isekai nonsense
Icarus27k replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I like this list a lot. Good job. I am going to add a really wild card one. An Adult Swim adaption of Soul Plumber (2021-2022). It has nothing to do with superheroes, and it was a surprise hit when it came out. At the comic shop I worked at, it was the most requested DC book on the weeks it was released. It's definitely not for kids by the way. Imagine Ghostbusters but with a ton of gross-out humor. -
I liked it. Well over half of DC's content is dark, morbid stuff, so when a fan sees wholesome and friendly content, you really, really appreciate it. Also, random online people I respect are giving the first two episodes positive reviews.

A few minutes into episode 2, and I'll guess the so far unnamed blond black ops guy is Slade Wilson, Deathstroke. Will see if I'm right. And is the woman shooting electricity Live Wire? Hmmm....

2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences
Icarus27k replied to NewBluntsworth's topic in Current Events
I realize there is a LOT going on in the world right now, but the right to marriage being under threat is unacceptable. And Biden reacting with "I'm concerned about what expanding the Court will do to partisanship in America" is unacceptable. That nostalgia for long dead bipartisanship will cost every oppressed group their rights. -
2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences

Yes. I'm alarmed. The Respect for Marriage Act would just force all states to recognize marriages performed in other states. If the Supreme Court overturns Obergerfell v Hodges (2015), states that don't want marriage equality can stop issuing licenses for new couples. That is unacceptable. -

And then, run on a promise of IF voters elect enough Democrats to the House and Senate, the Supreme Court will be expanded, Puerto Rico will be granted statehood if they desire it, and the process of statehood for the District of Columbia will begin in Congress.
