Trial sooner than expected? This has to do with one of the 19 defendants requesting a speedy trial. Since all are going to be tried at the same time, this one defendant is moving up the date.

Considering this video clearly shows the contrail of the missile that hit the plane, there seems to be no reason to concoct a different story about what happened.

The WH Chief of Staff isn't supposed to have anything to do with elections, so the claim Meadows was working in his official capacity on the election in Georgia, and thus he is entitled protections as a federal employee, doesn't make sense..

2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences
Icarus27k replied to NewBluntsworth's topic in Current Events
I have an acquaintance who believes Trump will NOT be the GOP candidate, and it'll be obvious early on. The logic goes like this: a bunch of GOP caucusgoers or primary voters will say they are going to support Trump but when it actually comes time to vote they will vote for someone else. That is, the polls and assumptions are more pro-Trump than what the results will be. -
That's a very weird flex. Like, a normal person wouldn't even come close to thinking that would be a good thing to say that makes them look better.

2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences

I don't get the meaning. Is this a comparison of Trump to Clinton? If so, Clinton participated in all of the Democratic primary debates in 2015-16. So perhaps Trump is worse than Clinton if we are using that as a standard. -

When you look at the GOP candidates for president, do you see one that could get 50% of the popular vote among Americans? I don't. And that should tell you how the 2024 election is likely to go. -
Elon Musk now owns Twitter, apparently trying to run it into the ground

I was agreeing with that tweet and expressing my exasperation with how bad communication on Twitter (now X, I guess) is. I've concluded the world would be a better place without it. -

May I point out also, dignity and self-respect. He should have a little of both. -
There'a a few things wrong with this framing. The Ukrainian counteroffensive against entrenched Russian defenses in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk oblast was always misguided. It was obvious since last year that these parts of occupied Ukraine were going to be the most difficult battles. U.S. intelligence officials said so publicly. Unfortunately, this advice was ignored by U.S. policymakers, from Biden on down to members of Congress, who continued to hype Ukraine's miraculous ability to overcome odds. It was also ignored by the Ukrainians themselves, who believed they could recreate their successes in winning battles of Kharkiv and Kherson last year. (There was also crazy optimistic predictions from some Ukrainian officials, who implied things like they would liberate Crimea this year.) So, the news article above errs by portraying this a novel surprise. The U.S. officials who are "increasingly" critical and gloomy are certainly those who ignored the obvious from at least last year.
