Seems like a waste to not have just waited two more days, with the entire event nearly called off, at least Toonami could have carried with its announcements. If this show was his big announcement he has been saving up, it’s not just that the news broke early, it’s another original with no air date. We want to know what the block is doing today, not a year or more from now.

Now this is funny, because I’m sure Demarco is absolutely disgusted by this. Now he gets to feel the way he makes us feel when he drags this franchise through the mud with these sequels. Those characters look like someone asked an AI to spit out some generic anime designs. If you showed someone this with no context there is absolutely nothing here that points to it being FLCL.

I know it’s a free event, but did they have to pay for their space out there? If so, I’d assume it’s too late for a refund and they can’t justify fully cancelling it. Strike or no strike, these projects already have their release date, so at the very least they can drum up some hype for them.

That’s good, I wonder if it will get bumped up the schedule. Right now the panel is scheduled for 5:15pm California time on Saturday.
-
Adult Swim has always listed things they do in EST which is why I thought it was weird. If it’s 5 EST that would put it at 4 CST which is crazy early for AS, even if they are just airing cartoons.
-
5pm? I thought they were taking 6pm. Did they get another hour or is that a timezone thing? I assume this means it’s starting out with Dexter, Ed Edd n Eddy, Billy and Mandy and Courage. So they are hitting the ground running with this idea. I’ll bet that so long as things go well, B&M and Courage will take over fully for October. I think both have enough episodes to carry the entire month.

It’s never their fault according to them. And no, using their own mistake to buy an extra week of not having to buy a new show isn’t owning it. Owning it is doing my suggestion that doesn’t offset the release schedule. I give a shit, as does the majority of the audience that watched the episode because unless you watched the sub, you could barely tell an episode was skipped. Not really sure why you believe your own situation on the matter is the only one that matters. You chose to tune out, the rest of us shouldn’t be punished for your decision. Just did the math btw. At normal pace, Dr Stone was set to run out of episodes two weeks prior to Labor Day. With this hiccup, it now ends the week before Labor Day. Really gets the ol noggin joggin, doesn’t it? And how convenient that the Toonami Facebook page was able to announce their plan for it on a Sunday morning.

And those of who stuck around get shafted with a rerun in 2 weeks. Weird how schedule mistakes never happen outside of Toonami, isn’t it? Plus, this isn’t about the mistake. That’s done and there’s no helping it. This is about the moronic response to the mistake. If they are insistent on running it again, next week should look like this 12 - Superman 12:30 - Stone 6 1 - Stone 7 1:30 - FLCL 2 - One Piece 2:30 - Naruto Im so tired of their attitude that if shows shift around 30 mins for one week that the entire block will burn down. This was their fuck up, own it and deal with it, not use it to pad out an extra week of time.

The only one here that was genuinely no one’s fault and completely unpredictable was the SAO glitch. My vote is still for it though. It froze, abruptly cut to commercial, then came back still frozen. Then Megalo Box came on. None of the others caused so much chaos. The SAO one was also the only one that no matter what kind of viewer you are, you knew something was wrong. I sat through that entire episode of Dr Stone last night, completely oblivious that we skipped an episode just because the pacing of this season has been so shoddy.

I imagine this is a huge moral dilemma for him. On one hand, he could stand with the strike and get some easy twitter points. On the other, this panel is very likely the only time this year he will get to “own the haters” in regards to Toonami. Strike or no strike, those originals are far enough along to still come out this year, so if he does call off the panel, then they will just get an unceremonious announcement on Facebook and he won’t be able to stroke his ego nearly as much. Id bet he has Maki in his ear as well telling him to not even think about calling it off after they wasted their AX panel to give Demarco material for this one. It’s like you went straight to the future. Can you grab me the lotto numbers next time you are there? I want that billy.
-
Now don’t you worry, if they call it off I’ll have plenty to rant about, and if they keep it on im expecting disappointment so I’ll have plenty to rant about then as well. There’s like a 90% chance you are gonna get that rant you crave, just hang tight on more week. I was thinking about this as well, Toonami is going to have the entire event on its shoulders if this keeps up. I don’t think any of these originals would be tied up by the strike since most of the work is happening in Japan, so it’s probably one of the only things AS can rely on actually happening. If Demarco requested nothing come out of the IG panel a few weeks ago, he would look like a real jackass if he pulls out of this event.

Inb4 Demarco cancels the Toonami panel to buy more time and using the strike as a smokescreen.

My Adventures with Superman Episode 3 Talkback
Toonamiguy321 replied to Jman's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
I assume Jman grabbed the wrong episode description, as the one in the OP sounds more like what was shown for next weeks promo. Anyway, I was sold on it last week already, but this marks the standard 3 episodes I’d give any show and it hasn’t let down yet. It’s not shattering any ground, but it’s an enjoyable experience and it’s spitting out great character designs left and right. My only real gripe right now is there are glaring moments where the animation team didn’t even try, but it looks good enough when it needs to. I spent the last week racking my brain for where I have seen this character dynamic before, and it finally clicked with me when I saw Jimmy doing pic related in the opening. It’s very similar to Uzaki-chan wants to Hang Out. Lois is playfully messing with Clark while Clark tries his best to be the straight man. Jimmy is an unaccounted for third wheel but often feels like a Uzaki-lite by usually going along with Lois’ schemes, much to Clark’s annoyance.- 51 replies

My Adventures with Superman Episode 3 Talkback
Toonamiguy321 replied to Jman's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
I still have a feeling Ivo will have earned his tech billions either through EVs or online shopping. But, I’d rather that than have those aspect glued onto Luthor. So if they need to get that out of their system, I’d rather see it here.- 51 replies

Our first week without SBD and we have a bigger ratings picture than we have seen in months. I know they are doing it to get it on Max ASAP, but they are clearly blowing an opportunity here with having Superman premier on Toonami. I can’t remember the last time we saw a 0.15 on Toonami. Genndy isnt breathing down their neck on this one, this should have been a block premier and the numbers back that up. If this keeps up, maybe they will change their tune for S2. Superman is definitely the surprise of 2023. I thought two episodes would be enough for me to write it off, instead I’m looking forward to the next. The fake anime is giving the block something it desperately needed from real anime but Demarco could never be convinced to try.

My theory is it’s just a quick flip. Snap it up cheap when Crunchyroll is distracted with a different acquisition, and just sit on it for a year or two, then either try to sell it to Crunchyroll for a premium, or if the government decides that’s too much monopoly, farm it off to someone else who wants into the anime game. I don’t believe anime is declining in popularity any time soon, so it’s a pretty safe gamble
-
Yea, it’s definitely too late to try unless the channel had its own access to an anime pool. I can’t see any network wanting to license anime in the current landscape. I guess AMC has the Sentai catalog right? Maybe they could smash some of those together into something. I actually forgot about that brief Chiller attempt. Which isn’t a surprise as looking it up to refresh my memory reminded me it died after 3 weeks. Idk if they weren’t serious or they were just out of touch. Considering their lead show was Korean Zombie Desk Car, I’m gonna go with out of touch. This is an unfortunate truth. We would be eating real good, and then they would make our brief Primal rerun curse look like joke. But, id still love to see it, maybe a 3 month good block of anime would be the kick in the pants Toonami needs to do better.

Sure she has the right to try. But attempts will simply embolden others to use her voice to do other things, knowing that it agitates her. Oh, did I say her voice? I meant using the voice of Merica Blindbeck, an anonymous person whose voice sounds VERY similar, but has given her full permission for its usage. You can fight a dub studio replacing your paid roles with AI. You can’t fight the Internet making memes. The once single upload video on one channel is now uploaded onto various channels and will surely be uploaded to more in the coming days. If this is the result “protecting her voice” I think the better option would have just been to keep quiet.
