methinks Pierrot's writers might have known what they were getting into when they began the series with a LITERAL train wreck

this isn't to say Goku is a bad protagonist.....but Super's kinda getting there this is more an example of why series like Naruto Boruto and Black Clover are ultimately annoying signs of a Generic Goku clone the protagonist is totally oblivious to the girl he's supposed to be canonically in love with he's really stupid and his love interest constantly nags him about it and annoying but everyone still basically likes him he's OBSESSED, with his male rival, to the point of it coming off as sexual tension/romantic pining villainous characters will turn to his side for more or less no reason other than because he's supposedly just that nice of a person while in other scenes those same characters will say he's actually a bad person because "ooo edgy" well written Shonen protagonists clearly do actually like the character who's meant to be their canon romantic interest, and they share a mutual respect and are nice to eachother can seem stupid at first but after a few minuets on screen it becomes evident that the character is actually VERY smart and is just weird is only considered annoying by characters who are clearly huge assholes and way more annoying than they are has a backstory with his rival that actually makes their rivalry make sense and avoids causing it to seem romantic any villains who join their side were clearly never actually evil to begin with and chose to join because the hero genuinely saw they needed help and offered it if ever a moment arises where the heroes morality does become questionable it is seriously evaluated and dealt with as an actual problem, rather than it just being pointed out but never explored because it's supposed to be "cool" so basically this is the difference between characters like Naruto vs. characters like Midoriya
