  1. Table-kun = best character in Code Geass Maybe the third season will focus on the tender love between Nina and Table-kun.
  2. Perhaps that's it, then. I always enjoyed when Toonami would get a low key pickups, and arguably that last one of those that we got was Michiko & Hatchin. While I am glad that Toonami has the resources to be able to pick up big name shows, I still wish for some of those pickups again.
  3. I considered mentioning that, but figured it wasn't that big of a deal. I mean, yes, it's obviously going to take some time to record a topical each week, but once they have TOM dialogue saying something like "On the next DB Super" ,they can just reuse that over and over. Assuming shots of the ship don't change, they don't need to make any really new footage, either. The music doesn't need to change, either, since it didn't do so in the OPM topicals. All that would really have to change between topicals is the footage of the show, which I think could be feasibly done each week. Alternatively, they can just not do topicals, or do something like biweekly or monthly topicals, but I figure it's either a yes or no situation.
  4. HOLY SHIT THE 49ERS MOVED UP TWO SLOTS IN THE POWER RANKINGS!!! Might not mean much but I'll take any success I can get.
  5. Hopefully this next arc in JoJo really does turn up the heat because that drop is massive. I agree with Sketch in saying that if JoJo keeps this up then it should be moved back in the block. On a more positive note, I'm glad the IBO finale retained so well. Even if it wasn't the most exciting of series, I still enjoyed it.
  6. There were a multitude of reasons for as to why Toonami lost it's later night hours in 2015. Month of Movies 2014 was a bust, and that definitely played into it. The constant slot changes and shows leaving in the latter half of 2014 also didn't help, I think. If you're implying what I think you are, then you're probably right: the ASA shows like GITS, IGPX, Dandy, and even Bebop were partially responsible for the reduction of Toonami. However, you also have to take into account the fact that these shows were airing practically nonstop as late night filler for years. Cowboy Bebop and FMAB (which I know Toonami no longer has) in particular were the biggest offenders, but they were all present in the late night block for practically all of Toonami's first three years. However, they haven't been aired in nearly two years at this point. Given that, I don't think they would be ratings killers like they were back in 2014, provided that they air in the later part of the block. So let's imagine that Adult Swim just up and gives Toonami 3:30 to 6:00 again. Unlikely, but theoretically possible. Perhaps Toonami has shows picked out to fill some of the slots, but I doubt they would get shows just for the sake of airing them in the 4:00 or 5:00 hour. More likely, they would use what they have to fill those slots, or at least some of them. As long as they keep the shows rotating off the block after a run, then they probably wouldn't get stale, and the ratings wouldn't suffer. That's the way I see it, anyway. As for the second part of your comment, I wouldn't mind seeing any of those on Toonami again. If Bleach were to end up returning, I'd like to see it start for Soul Society again.
  7. I still feel as though the only reason we got 11:30 back was for Super, and that we need something of the caliber to get slots. I'd love to be proven wrong, however, so let's hope I am. Perhaps it's just me, but Toonami has been feeling a bit different ever since the block lost 3 hours. Perhaps it's just because there isn't as many shows coming in now (even if the shows were just whatever Adult Swim owned). Maybe it's because Toonami's been getting more bigger name shows since then. Hell, maybe it's because FMAB isn't on Toonami anymore (as weird as it sounds saying it, considering how much I begged for it to be taken off). I'm not sure what it is. If Toonami does manage to pick up more hours, I'd like to see one slot devoted to classic shows (older pickups from Toonami and ASA), or at least some of the stuff Adult Swim still holds. I'd love to see another Toonami run of IGPX or Space Dandy, the latter in particular, since Season 2 never got a full rerun. Does anyone else have that feeling?
  8. I'd be surprised if it didn't get topicals, actually. Prior to this, it was Attack on Titan, Space Dandy, and One-Punch Man that were given topicals. All of those shows were considered to have major potential to grab the casual audience. DB Super is obviously going to be seen as that, so it stands to reason that it will get topicals.
  9. I'm liking both of your ideas. I can tell you really thought about the first one in particular, and I'm interested to see how the story would develop over multiple episodes.
  10. I plan to be watching the 8 PM airing when I can. I'll definitely be DVRing it to keep for my show archives. So here's a question: if this 8 PM airing does well, do you think Toonami stands to be possibly moved earlier in the night? Or would they just write it off as Dragon Ball being Dragon Ball?
  11. It aired September 5, 2015, right after the bumper during the second episode break in the Michiko & Hatchin marathon. I think it aired at least once more that night. I still have a recording of that marathon somewhere.
  12. The only way Toonami would pick up Bleach again is if they got a big expansion to the block and needed to fill out slots. And even then, Bleach would only come after they filled the slots with whatever shows [as] holds the rights to (so Space Dandy, IGPX, GITS, etc.). And that's even considering the GET further expansion. The only reason we have expansion now is because DB Super.
  13. It's not surprising that the Jets won, considering they were playing the 49ers today. Seriously, I'm about to sacrifice a goat if they don't start winning soon. Hell, I'll sacrifice a goat AND a chicken, just to make sure it works.
  14. Personally I'd like to see Toonami picking up less long runners (or at least the removal of a couple of them), but I'm overall pretty satisfied with the block. Definitely more lively than what ASA would be at this time.
  15. I kept up with Shippuden for about 10 episodes in 2014 before I skipped ahead and watched online. I haven't watched in a while, but I'm a good 120 or so episodes past the Toonami airing. One Piece I used to follow, but I skipped ahead a ton during the summer so I haven't been following it recently. It's pretty nearly with where I left off, though, so I need to start watching again.
  16. Who could forget the classic Shirley Temple ad that played in the early morning hours back in like 2013? And now we have that Gerber commercial, and a commercial advertising talking to hot girls over the phone. They can't seem to decide whether or not we have significant others (as the Gerber ad implies), or if we're single.
  17. Much like everyone else here, I have my own ideas in my head for anime, down to and including the music for the intro (in one case, at least). I don't really read much fanficiton, let alone anime fanfiction. I read an Eureka Seven fanfiction sequel right around the time I really got into the series, but it became far to saccharine for me relatively quickly, and I dropped it after a couple of chapters (admittedly, it was still better than Astral Ocean, but that isn't too hard to do). I HAVE read Re-Take, though, and actually enjoyed it pretty thoroughly. Not related to anime, I read some Star Wars fanfiction about what would have happened in Mace Windu killed Palpatine, which was pretty good, but I haven't read it in a while. I used to read Fan Fiction Fridays back when Topless Robot was a thing. I just read a crack fic about Ron Weasley being the stupidest person alive, which was entertaining. As for me writing fanfiction, I've only ever written one. I wrote it and posted it back around the time Toonami got revived, when I used to frequent the NeoToonami forums (back when they were a thing). It was and is absolutely terrible, and is the only thing I've ever done that I actually regret doing.
  18. I didn't know Top 40 was still a genre.
  19. Ooooooh, nifty. The last time we had something like this happen was with Kick-Heart, and that was 3 years ago now, back when I was a freshman still. My, how the time flies.
  20. I didn't remember them specifying it beyond just 2017. Besides, it would seem to be more fitting to put it near the beginning of 2017, to better coincide with Toonami's 20th anniversary.
  21. It probably will, though, because people are stupid.
  22. Figured there wouldn't be much more we could get, especially with both the Dragon Ball series coming in. Though I wouldn't count out seeing Mob Psycho 100 on Toonami in the future.
  23. Yeah that's how it appears to be... At least from the perspective of someone who has never seen JoJo at all before October (ie. ME), it seems that most of the hype about the show comes from the arc after Phantom Blood. My friend is a huge JoJo fan and says that it get's really crazy and really good there. Not to say Phantom Blood is bad, but it at least makes sense as to why the ratings are a bit down.
  24. I've already posted my thoughts on this but I'm still not thrilled with Super. Admittedly, I haven't ever really sat down to watch it and pay attention to it, so I'll give it a shot before I completely disregard it. But still, I have my doubts.
  25. I think we'll see a classic come to the block in 2017. My hope would be Outlaw Star.
