  1. They didn't air any Bebop for over two years. When they finally got around to airing it, they put it in the second to last slot on the block. And they give it a marathon on a night no one was going to watch anyway. And this somehow offends you? This is spamming Bebop? You don't even watch the marathons, so what do you care if it's Bebop or something else? It sounds to me like you just hate Bebop. Not because of Toonami, but just that you hate it yourself.
  2. I think you're overreacting to this.
  3. But is Toonami REALLY trying to compete with Netflix? I don't think that they are. Or at the very least, it isn't a priority for them. We can all try and pretend that Toonami is a major player in the anime world, but the fact of the matter is that it isn't. Once upon a time, Toonami was the place to go for action anime. The shows that it aired are now, for the most part, considered classics. For a lot of people, it changed the way they perceived anime. But those times are over. And I think that DeMarco, for all we criticize him, understands that. He knows that Toonami is never going to be able to compete directly with something like the Internet and Netflix. Any show that Toonami wants, Netflix can snatch up the rights to if they wanted. Even if Toonami gets a show, that doesn't guarantee people are going to watch. People can just as easily wait until the next day, when any number of (illegal) sites will have a recording of it posted for free. Even if Toonami wanted to be competitive, I don't think it could be. I don't think Adult Swim expects it to be, either. If ratings for Toonami really are terrible, then Adult Swim could pull the plug on it any time they wanted to. They could fill Saturday night with reruns of originals and save the money that was being used for the Toonami budget. But they haven't done that yet. Instead, Toonami went from 4 hours to 5.5 hours, moved up a full hour earlier than it has ever been on Adult Swim, and apparently has plans to continue into 2021. Sure, you can say that the last one is just DeMarco lying or stretching the truth, but what about the other two? How do you explain any of that if Toonami really has been doing terrible in the ratings? You can't. Adult Swim doesn't expect ratings on par with what Toonami used to do on daytime TV in 2001. The ratings Toonami gets now probably meets, or even exceeds their expectations for it.
  4. That'd be my guess. Perhaps the previous contract with Toei only allowed a certain number of airings or something. As for the marathons, I don't hate the Cowboy Bebop marathon (I'm kinda ambivalent about it), but I'm not big on the Super marathon.
  5. It really says something when I hate Dragon Ball GT, yet prefer it to Super. Toriyama is definitely trolling at this point. I suspected it before, but it's certain now.
  6. How so? I mean, if Toonami regularly aired reruns of Dragon Ball Super you'd have a point, but they don't. You're just being fatalistic. I doubt Toonami will see a difference.
  7. Don't you mean Boruto's Dad Shippuden?
  8. So is this Anime: The Anime Season 2 or Shonen: The Anime? Because it seems to me like either would fit.
  9. What, you mean Boku no Pico isn't an option?
  10. You can argue that point for some movies (The Master is and forever will be the worst movie I've ever watched) but Chinatown is actually a good movie. I'm assuming you've watched it, but if not then I'd recommend it. I don't think you'll be as disappointed as you think you'll be. Just because it might be at the back of my mind doesn't mean I'm going to actively let it influence my opinion. I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I'm never going to like Rurouni Kenshin ever again, because if I did then I know I'd be lying to myself. I understand that there are going to be some people who won't be able to think about Rurouni Kenshin right now without thinking about all of this. It's the same kind of thing that's going on with Kevin Spacey and House of Cards. Feeling are going to be strong for a while. But the thing is, over time, those feelings are going to fade. They're going to become less intense, and most people aren't going to have a problem watching it again. That doesn't mean that they need to accept that what the person did was right. All it means is that they've become able to separate the media from the person. Even beyond that, think about 30 years from now. People who aren't even born yet will be watching Rurouni Kenshin. They're not going to think about what the author did 30 years ago. It's not going to influence their opinion of the show. Rurouni Kenshin will live on, even if the author's reputation doesn't.
  11. How drunk were you at this point, Mochi?
  12. This is sad to see. I can see how this is going to ruin Rurouni Kenshin for some people, but most people will probably be able to get past it. This isn't the first time something like this has happened, anyway. Look at the movie Chinatown, for example. Even today, it's considered a cinema classic, and one of the greatest movies of all time, despite the reputation Roman Polanski gained after making it.
  13. Don't deny it, Ben, you've already purchased it with next day shipping.
  14. Wow. I...honestly did not expect this. I've admittedly been out of the loop for a while (been dealing with life issues the past few months), but I still know enough to know that Black Clover effectively embodies all of what I don't want to see on Toonami. Congratulations, Toonami. Is the expansion worth it?
  15. Sad to hear. And I've been watching Kimagure Orange Road too.
  16. That Kai to JoJo drop is almost cringeworthy... not that much else looks better, though. Same as usually for Toonami.
  17. As much as I'd like to hope for a new TOM, I doubt that's going to happen. They'll probably do what they've done the past two years: new look for the block. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
  18. Is there anything that they won't try reviving for nostalgiabait?
  19. M&Ms in Pennsylvania I'm glad to see it isn't Hershey anything because I've had far too much Hershey in my life.
  20. It's pretty obvious that they don't really care for the stream all that much. If I had to guess, they probably only really want to use the stream for Pre-Flight, but are obligated by Adult Swim to do SOMETHING with it, so they just kind of stick some shows in there to fill the void.
  21. Yeah, I really do miss the Funimation Channel. I have a lot of fond memories of me just sitting up and watching that channel until 11 or 12 at night. Not all of the shows they aired were amazing, but I loved to watch every one of them. It really helped reintroduce me to anime, especially since at that point in my life, I hadn't watched any anime in a while, and even then, not really anything other than action shows. Notably, it introduced me to Chobits, which at the time became my favorite anime, and is still one of my favorites today, and reintroduced me to Yu Yu Hakusho, which I remember waking up early on weekdays to watch before class. Now, as for my updates: Re:Zero | Completed I went into this show pretty much blind, if you can believe that. From the description, and with the hype it got, I expected it to be a fairly standard, yet well animated and well written "stuck in a different world" story. When I watched it, I can definitely see the show on Toonami, if it ever gets a dub. Though to be honest, I'm sure Netflix would get it first. Revolutionary Girl Utena | Completed This one took me a while to get started, but once I got into it I practically watched it all in a couple of viewings. The TV series had me wondering what I was watching at times, but in the end I enjoyed the surreal nature of the show. I really like how Overall, Utena was great. I'd definitely watch it again. Thanks to MasqueradeOverture[/member] for suggesting it. BONUS: Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie I finished watching this not two hours ago, and it's fairly obvious that
  22. And yes, I do have the link for this image bookmarked.
  23. Cory in the House [boku no Pico]
  24. Ben you were sick of the marathons two years ago. And apparently they're doing this one... because Halloween? I'll be honest, even I don't agree with a marathon for Halloween, so I'm not even going to try and defend it.
