  1. Welp, if this is true, Toonami stays as normal. Weird to be digging this out of the vault for AFTER Toonami, but there ya go. This will be the first time since 2012 that Toonami hasn't gotten a one-night extension for DST.
  2. I would say those other players didn't beat them with Samurai Jack, and of course One Punch Man last year. Dragon Ball Super also showed promise, but it kinda got mired in stupidity since it's showing glorified reruns to kick off the block!
  3. Gene is fucked...or IS HE? Find out tomorrow at 2:30 AM! Only Toonami!!
  4. DODGEBALL, with Nen! 1 AM, only Toonami!
  5. EPISODE 11: Emperor Gunslingin' Goober Hol Horse & Hanged Man Part 2 Is Avdol really dead? Find out tomorrow (10/14/17), High Midnight! One thing's for sure, it's gonna be BLOODY!! ONLY TOONAMI!
  6. EPISODE #27: IN THE MIDST OF JEALOUSY! Last week, we were re-introduced to Tekkadan, but now they're in a HELL of a skirmish! Will they escape unscathed? Find out tomorrow night (10/14/17) at 12:30 AM! ONLY TOONAMI! [going up]
  7. No. We really don't know HOW MANY people are watching Netflix originals, because they won't tell us. It's still quite possible that Dragon Ball Super's 900K-ish viewers during Toonami beat the hell out of whatever the hell Piracy-stumped Little Witch Academia did in the first night it came out! Is streaming that damn popular? We really don't know. Only clues we have are when music videos cross the one billion views mark, like when Carly Ray Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" crossed that mark earlier this week.
  8. What is funny, is while it was premiering on FX last year, multiple reviewers were saying that each episode was like a call back to that episode number's season. In other words, episode 1 was reminiscent of AHS Season 1, episode 2 of Season 2, and so on. So guess what happens when the show reaches episode 6...?
  9. Yeah, I found that name-drop a little odd. I don't THINK Snapchat does video anywhere on the scale of cable TV. However, it DOES have a few constantly-streaming news "channels" (which operate similarly to adult swim's streaming marathon "channels") like "E! News Rundown," "NBC Stay Tuned," and "CNN The Update". There are several others with less-sophisticated video that provide continuously rolling "factoids", including one for the NFL. It's a small platform in its infancy, but it could grow quite a bit from there. I'd say only a matter of time (maybe in 2018), that an anime interest finds its way to the fledgling platform!
  10. It's pretty bad. Netflix is pretty much killing Cable TV! https://www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/articles/2017-10-12/pay-tv-s-salad-days-are-gone-in-painful-time-for-at-t-viacom
  11. It's not just Toonami--Netflix is trying to destroy all of pay TV! https://www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/articles/2017-10-12/pay-tv-s-salad-days-are-gone-in-painful-time-for-at-t-viacom
  12. Maybe we'll get JoJo's for Thanksgiving after all. That would be episodes 7ish-15 instead of 4-12, but I'll take it, especially if it gives me another chance to record Episode 10. Another Christmas marathon would also do that, but it would be more like 10-18. Episode 7 would be a bad episode to start a marathon, because of what happens in that episode! And yeah, it's Season 5. Now that THAT little mystery has been solved, how about that November 4th DST's end bonus hour?
  13. Just announced. I gotta say I didn't see this coming, and sorry but I won't be watching that night. Well, at least not ALL night. Might turn it on when I get back from a football game trip! The question is, will it be Season 5, or will it go back to the beginning?
  14. Maybe, but ironically that's not really true of OVAs and other special events, despite the fact that Netflix's model is pretty much hard-wired in favor of them. I don't see Netflix getting the Dragon Ball Super special, for instance. Hmmm...
  15. Hmmm, so probably not Outlaw Star unless they just play one episode less for 11/25, then. Normal lineup KINDA worked last year. But this will be a double-length TIE (why not just expand it to 5 episodes and go through Dec. 2nd?), so the first episode of the night (Dragon Ball Super) would get a REALLY wonky start time. Or it would just air instead of the commercial break, and the next commercial break would also be truncated or outright omitted, with just a "Countdown is sponsored by..." bump! But then again, I know Intruder 2 had "The Real Cost" as its title sponsor, but I don't believe Intruder 3 actually had a title sponsor! So many unanswered questions here...
  16. I could be wrong, but I think by this point in October a year ago they had announced that Gundam IBO was the show which would be getting a marathon (of the end of the Brewers and the Dort arcs, episodes 13-19) on October 29th. We're only a little over 2 weeks out now and they still haven't made an announcement for October 28th. Most are suspecting it's gonna be JoJo: Stardust Crusaders, but nothing's official yet. Also, it was October 17th last year when they announced Children Who Chase Lost Voices would be the 3 AM Daylight Savings Time special. DeMarco has said it's unlikely we'll get a movie anytime soon, so I don't think it's that, so theoretically, Toonami will announce something else for the first 3 AM (2nd 2 AM hour) sometime next week. I'm hoping it's a one-off OVA, like maybe Interstella 5555, but there's no telling what we could get for that "bonus hour!" Also, unless they want to cannibalize some of the normal lineup for 2 weeks in a row, it would be confined to just that hour. And I'm thinking, yes, either after Outlaw Star, or unless they somehow pull a movie out of their asses, beginning at 2:30 AM instead of the next episode of Outlaw Star, meaning the Nostalgia Trip takes a 2-week break, which would be mind-bogglingly dumb after GITS 2nd Gig just plays one episode and then gets its next THREE weeks later!
  17. No update. We're stuck with Dragon Ball Super 21-25 throughout the whole week, it would seem, and Wednesday advancements are a thing of the past. But we get a 10-show Toonami on Weekends; why can't we get 10-show marathons during the week? Then there would be no need for the Wednesday advance, and also, showing 5 episodes and then the same 5 is kinda hard to follow! But then again, even the weekend stream is fairly tough to follow, as you have no idea when it will begin, since it begins after Pre-Flight ends, and Pre-Flight has an irregular length!
  18. But the regular lineup would probably be too restrictive for a 6-minute TIE to air at the top of the block. It's the main reason why longer videos usually happen during marathons: for some reason, they are able to take less time than a normal lineup. Especially something like Outlaw Star which is older and might have a shorter runtime.
  19. IBO had a lot of hype going for it, but now we can see that it hasn't lived up to it. It's also retaining JoJo almost as well as Tokyo Ghoul did, which is actually pretty good. Ghoul retained 92-95%, while so far IBO has retained 90%, except in 18-34, which was only 86%. Still, I think it's too soon to call it out.
  20. I get the feeling i'll get a 2nd chance to record those episodes of JoJo and Gundam later this year: JoJo will likely get the Saturday before Halloween marathon, while Gundam will likely get one of the two Christmas/New Year's holiday marathons, though nothing's official yet. JoJo's marathon, if it gets 10/28, would have the 10/7 episode 3rd-to-last, while any December marathon that features Gundam IBO Season 2 would go back to the first episode for sure, unless somehow Toonami were to contract to less than 8 episodes. But as 9-10 episodes would likely be out by then, I'd say IF Gundam IBO gets that Christmas marathon, it's gonna go back to the beginning. Just for the record, I'm thinking Lupin the 3rd probably won't get a marathon, but Outlaw Star probably will. I'm thinking November 25th for Thanksgiving weekend, and going back 9-10 episodes, though I suppose Outlaw Star COULD get the Halloween marathon, as it will have 9 episodes out by then. I just don't see it as likely, and JoJo will probably get it. The real question is, if Outlaw Star does get the Thanksgiving weekend Marathon, does it do like the first Attack on Titan marathon in 2014 and the Hunter x Hunter marathon in 2016 and go back to the beginning instead of back a certain number of episodes? Granted, last year it was business-as-usual on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but this year we already know we'll get an extra-long episode of Lockdown, this year's TIE, so it's almost certain that marathon will air on that date.
  21. Yep, that was definitely an off-night for Hunter x Hunter, as so far in 2017, it has averaged 92.3% retention in both total viewers and adults 18-49!
