FLCL only has one season so far, and it's just IT back-to-back. Still, the 3-hour 15-minute runtime for the block indicates that we will have all the usual features and foibles that Toonami marathons often contain, including reruns of "behind the scenes" segments and almost definitely some new stuff as well. If you're looking for something special on Toonami's 6th anniversary on Adult Swim, you've got it, though you probably haven't thought about it: this is the first time since September 2012 that Toonami will repeat in the same night. And when Toonami first came to Adult Swim, exactly 6 years prior, it began at 12 AM and repeated at 3 AM. But I wonder if it indicates something bigger going forward? It may take a while, but I believe this might be a trial run for an 8-show Toonami that starts at 10 PM and repeats at 2 AM, a trial run that will most likely be repeated when FLCL 2 and/or FLCL 3 end later on. If they're successful, then perhaps in 2019 or beyond whenever Space Dandy Season 2 and the replay of Bebop end, Toonami will drop the reruns and air 8 premieres from 10-2, and rerun those from 2-6. After all, Naruto Shippuden's tame enough for 1:30/5:30.

It's funny hearing this guy mouth off about Toonami shows which are essentially lame-duck shows while complaining about traffic; maybe road rage combined with fan rage isn't a great idea??? Kai IS going. It's got less than 2 months left. It might end up somewhere else on the schedule in reruns, but its weeks are numbered to fewer than the number of fingers on both hands. And as for FLCL's midnight rerun, well, that's got only 2 episodes left, unless you count the Memorial Day dual marathon. Running it at 11:30 was a huge mistake, but it is what it is at this point. And realistically JoJo:SC wasn't doing great at midnight anyway. I'm confident Toonami will do this right. The new show will likely come in at 11:30 next month to replace Kai, and of course after that will be all-new WORLD PREMIERE FLCL. MHA is already getting the ratings up slightly for sweeps season, and will either do better behind Super once Kai ends, or will stay at 11:30 to support whatever the new show is at 11. I believe they have a plan for Toonami to be more successful here. MHA and FLCL 2/3 are great but they're only the beginning... FINALLY, interesting that he name-dropped Big O. Is that really what's replacing GITS? I hope if so it's with Season 1...

The blocks on 11/2/14 and 3/31/18 were longer -- 7.5 hours long. And on CN Toonami actually aired for 24 hours straight on something called the "Full Cycle" which began on 4/8/00. This is actually as long as a typical broadcast in 2014. I don't know for sure what I'll be doing that night, but I'll most likely watch the 2nd play-through.

Update: I did the uninstall/reinstall, and now it works fine. If you're having trouble with the app starting (but I may have been the only one), I suggest you try that. Just wish I had thought to do this before Saturday night! I STILL haven't seen a lot of the stuff that aired!

Y'all missed the big elephant in the room: Family Guy (R) (ADSM, Sat. 5/05/18 10:00 PM, 30 min.) – 1.079 million viewers (#35) – 0.602 million adults 18-49 (0.47 A18-49 rating) (#8) Dragon Ball Super (ADSM, Sat. 5/05/18 10:30 PM, 30 min.) – 0.958 million viewers (#64) – 0.611 million adults 18-49 (0.47 A18-49 rating) (#7) DBS dropped markedly from Family Guy in total viewers, but edged it out in adults 18-49 by 9K. Last week's block averaged 517K, placing it 12th out of 18 weeks so far this year. In Adults 18-49, it scored a 326K, placing it 9th out of 18 weeks so far this year. That's below average in total viewers, but just barely above average in Adults 18-49! Guess that's the "My Hero Academia" effect! I just had a weird dream that I was on this board, and they picked Gundam Unicorn (of all things) to replace Ghost In The Shell at 3:30 AM. Sounds weird, but it kinda makes sense if you think about it. It would allow them the chance to keep Gundam on the block without committing to a new show, and with its next chapter Gundam Narrative coming in Japan this fall, it would be a fine refresher of these characters. But again, it was only a dream. It will be interesting to see what they do for the Memorial Day weekend, and for that slot on June 2nd. [probably just more Ghost]

I'm really not sure if it's working for anyone else, but it's not working for me, and hasn't since Friday afternoon.

Tomorrow is Goku day (since "go" in Japanese means 5, and "ku" means 9), as well as King Piccolo day from the original Dragonball, so it only makes sense that Dragon Ball Super is streaming this week on the marathon stream. I believe it's some episodes in the fake Vegeta arc, but since the app is apparently still down, the only way you'll see them is by using the [as] website.

First look at ratings is in courtesy of ShowBuzzDaily, and My Hero Academia didn't really make that much of a difference--or DID it?? We STILL don't know how well My Hero Academia did since for some bizarre reason it got listed as a rerun, apparently, but so did Black Clover. That leaves only 3 shows that we know the ratings for... ...and since it IS just 3 shows, I won't even bother doing my usual graphs, but both the Dragon Balls WERE up in all demographics, and markedly so in the case of Kai, though not necessarily so in terms of retention. It's almost as if viewers were waiting around for something... Meanwhile JoJo improved on the 12:30 slot's Gundam IBO last week, as well as on itself at midnight last week in both of the main target demographics.

Friday night advance confirmed, but since the app has been down this weekend, the only way to watch the stream of AoT episodes 6-10 is on the [as] website! And knowing what we now know about Reiner and Bertholdt, it sure is interesting to see what their role was during the Trost arc!

I'm not so sure I consider Haruko to be a villain so much as a powerful foreign being with an opportunistic goal. She doesn't care who she uses to achieve that goal, though. But it's a little different than true villainy because she's not actively seeking to harm anyone.

Black Clover = Bleach?? Well, depends on if it runs for more than 51 episodes. Right now, it's more like Soul Eater, at least in terms of length. If we're including My Hero Academia as one of the "new big 3," really, there's only one show still continuing serially that comes close: AOT.

But that was at least a dub premiere. Easier to defend "all new" in that case than it is when the show's been streaming online in its dubbed format for 2 years! But damn right I agree it needed topicals. "On the next episode" would have been OK though...

Wow, this show is actually getting topicals that say "all new". I'm so flabberghasted I don't know what to say... I guess I'm like "RIGHT ON that it's getting topicals," but "'all new' my ass!"
