I'd argue that you're right about Food Wars, since it's gonna last pretty much forever. But I believe it was actually supposed to be the replacement for HxH directly in its timeslot, but Sentai relented. That's where the Gundam moving 3 AM to 1 AM rumor probably originated. Dr. Stone has potential. I'd say it's likely to move up to 11:30 once gen:LOCK ends!

Episode #10: "Thief and Thief" Lupin steals your heart one last time at 12:30 tomorrow night (8/17)!! And if you're just watching the show at 12:30, you might think it's the final episode, but don't be fooled, because after this week, Lupin's laying low at 3:30 AM! Zenigata would stay up that late to catch him, so no excuses!! ONLY TOONAMI!!!
-
You assume that just because they're premiering Season 3 right now at 3:30, there's some kind of premium on it? Hell, it's practically in the same position as Lupin III Part 5--and just look what's happening to THAT next!!! They WILL treat MHA better--when we get to Season 4!
-
It looks like MHA is rerunning, albeit at 4 AM, and that's pretty much all I need to know to believe Season 4 is coming--in an EARLIER timeslot, of course!! Perhaps the timeslot is intended to be a signal?? Running reruns of MHA at 4 = we're getting MHA Season 4!!

And airing at 3 AM? That's ridiculous! I'd say it will replace Dragon Ball Super...

Episode 7: Encounter With Lalah Get ready for more "tragic beauty!" The mission to thwart the "sham" military plan was a success!! What's next for Char and Garma? Stay up late tomorrow night (8/17) and find out!! 3 AM, ONLY TOONAMI!! -

Well well well!!! We've got a whole hour of near-simuldubs at midnight now! Well done, Toonami!! I'm not "dropping" Lupin the 3rd, even if it's at 3:30 AM. That's a completely insane timeslot for a dub premiere, but it WAS kinda failing in the ratings. It's only 2:30 AM for me, which is still somewhat watchable. I just hope tonight's episode ends the "EPISODE II" mini-arc because otherwise that's gonna be a pain in the ass! My Hero Academia Season 3 actually ends tomorrow night, so rerun confirmed at 4 AM!? Or is that a mistake? Guess we'll find out!

The real question is: could this movie air on Toonami? I say...maybe? You would of course have to bleep a lot and cut out the less-important scenes with Sonoshee's naked boobs, but it COULD be done! It would probably be a 2.5-hour timeslot, of course.
-
So, yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the movie Redline, a movie that by all rights should have aired on Toonami!! Watch the whole thing now, right here in this thread! ENJOY!!!

Say what? You think I actually approve of Trump? You haven't been following me much if you think that. Nothing could be further from the truth! I actually spend almost as many hours weekly watching MSNBC as watching Toonami, and I'm even thinking about voting for Bill Weld in the Republican primary, just to do my part as directly as possible to stop Trump from getting a second term! But I digress. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-wednesday-cable-originals-network-finals-8-14-2019.html Boy howdy, those Bojack Horseman ratings are terrible! I actually believe that if Netflix takes a chance on letting one of its originals air on Toonami, it might even be the highest-rated Netflix original to ever air in syndication on basic cable! Even the 200K-300K Toonami shows that aren't Dragon Ball Super get these days can beat THAT!
-
There's nothing more annoying than trying to watch and tweet about Toonami and a whole bunch of political BS comes up. I usually try to filter it out by using whichever show is airing's hashtag, but not always. And Facebook and Toonami just plain don't mix (though ironically Toonami DOES have a great Facebook page!)

Gen:LOCK by far is the worst retainer, but even it is not AS bad as it was last week, nor is it as bad as total viewers, which might indicate its target audience retention is growing. The whole night actually did better than almost half of the year so far, but still in the bottom half. And what's kind of sad is how bad the same shit-coms that play each and every stupid night on NAN are kicking everything on the lineup's ass but Dragon Ball Super, though this week did fail to beat gen:LOCK and sort of tied with Fire Force only in 18-49. Everything else on the lineup though? No contest, NAN wins once Lupin comes on, which is a shame since it has the best reviews of anything on the lineup.

Rank the Toonami shows that aired this week!

Resurrecting this topic, and just off the top of my head: 8/3/19 AND 8/10/19: #10 Food Wars #09 Boruto #08 Naruto Shippuden #07 Dragon Ball Super #06 gen:LOCK #05 Black Clover #04 Fire Force #03 My Hero Academia #02 Gundam: The Origin #01 Lupin III Part 5 Now that I've seen all 10 shows on 8/17 with the sound on, I can confidently arrange them such: #10: Boruto - Despite the gray morality, these Katsuki guys are just so uninteresting. Thank you, NEXT! #09: Naruto Shippuden - Sasori was the first Akatsuki member to die, and now he's the first to die again! #08: Black Clover - The tournament is winding down already!? Kinda weird that there won't even be a "final match," and the semifinal will do. #07: Food Wars - A little predictable, but there WAS an interesting twist, and it was still a treat to watch! #06: Dragon Ball Super - Frieza tries to make a deal with Universe 11 and level the playing field, but it's Gohan who ironically gets sacrificed! #05: Fire Force - An infernal who can talk? Cool! Company 5 has an Esdeath ripoff with Nia Teppelin's eyes? Not quite as cool. #04: My Hero Academia - So long, Season 3! Wait, what's that? See you again next week!? #03: gen:LOCK - No real battles, but this show just LOOKS cool and has dope insert music! Fun to just watch the mechs "play!" #02: Gundam: The Origin - We meet Lalah, and all hell breaks loose on the moon! R.I.P. Dr. Minovsky; hello Red Comet! #01: Lupin III Part 5 - Lupin steals the show one last time at 12:30 with the perfect end to an almost perfect arc (A, A, A+, A+)! -
There is a bit of an obstacle to that happening during Season 1: It's of abnormal length, longer than any of the other Toonami shows, and time is limited. Those interviews would likely happen during another Toonami show, but damn if Dragon Ball Super wouldn't be almost perfect for that. But for Season 2, the episodes should be cut to 20-22 minutes in pre-production to air on Toonami, and that will allow for more time for star VA interviews actually during the episode's run. And lookie here: we have an update: http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-8-10-2019.html "Adult Swim’s line-up performed as follows: DRAGON BALL at 0.33 and 0.10/284K & 0.12/286K, compared to last week’s 0.31 and 0.12/343K & 0.11/310K, GEN LOCK up 0.03 to 0.20, FIRE FORCE up 0.05 to 0.20/372K, LUPIN THE 3RD up 0.04 to 0.17, FOOD WARS steady at 0.16, BLACK CLOVER down 0.01 to 0.15/283K, BORUTO down 0.02 to 0.13, NARUTO sdown 0.02 to 0.12/239K, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM steady at 0.13/237K, MY HERO ACADEMIA up 0.01 to 0.13/282K, and GEMUSETTO MACHU PICCHU up 0.01 to 0.09/175K." 8/10/2019 - Total Viewers Show Viewers Retention DBZ Kai 282,000 DBS (R) 286,000 101.42% F. Guy TOONAMI DBS (P) 711,000 #DIV/0! Gen:LOCK 390,000 54.85% FireForce 372,000 95.38% LupinPt5 301,000 80.91% FoodWars! 303,000 100.66% B. Clover 283,000 93.40% Boruto 266,000 93.99% Shippuden 239,000 89.85% Gundam 237,000 99.16% MHA 282,000 118.99% AVERAGE 338,400 25 of 32 Food Wars!, Gundam, and MHA are surprisingly the best retainers in total viewers (DBS is still unknown), and note above that Gundam actually GAINED on Shippuden in 18-49 as well, but the worst retainer by far is gen:LOCK.
-
Well, since gen:LOCK is ending 2 weeks before Dragon Ball Super, perhaps they'll even double-up on DBS the week after gen:LOCK ends and make Episodes 130 and 131 back-to-back a special event on either September 28th (if no Labor Day marathon) or October 5th (if there is a Labor Day marathon)! Though it might be better to split them up and give extra star power, or at least a chance at it, to the new 11:30 show, but I digress... Dragon Ball Super improved last week, but that improvement really didn't carry over to gen:LOCK that much, though it did crack the Top 15 in Adults 18-49 and even took Fire Force with it! http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-8-10-2019.html Boruto checks in at #55 with a 0.13 in Adults 18-49 and 266K viewers, just barely edging out Mobile Suit Gundam(: The Origin) Red Comet at #56, also with a 0.13 in Adults 18-49, but only 237K total viewers. Maybe the fact that I forgot to make a "watch DVR recordings on Sunday" tweet somehow had an impact!? But it is also true that it's now on FUNimation NOW Attack on Titan-style a day after it airs on Toonami, so that might have an impact. But all of MHA is also streaming on there and it usually edges it out, though we won't know how the penultimate episode of Season 3 did until a little later on today. (Ditto with Black Clover's Charmy's Clover Clips and the 2nd episode of Shippuden's Reanimated Akatsuki War arc.)

I believe what happened is the fact that Season 1 was only a single cour threw everything off. IIRC, Season 2 also ended on a slightly less climactic note than in the middle. We really should be watching the beginning of Season 3 right now, not the end. -

Because we're in "exposition mode", and it looks like this continues next week without much of a payoff, so I will REALLY feel cheated if Toonami doesn't get Season 4! https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/my-hero-academia/episode-62/.137185 Grade: "B+". Yes, this season will conclude with a bit of a "non-conclusion" next week, according to this article! I guess this kinda makes this season similar to Sword Art Online II, in that the big payoff was in the FIRST half, and the 2nd half mostly meandered with a bunch of other short stories in the aftermath of the 1st half. -
