  1. If I go out on Saturday nights (as I probably will this weekend), I still usually watch whatever Toonami shows are left on the East Coast when I get home. Sometimes I switch over to the west coast feed and watch a couple of those before going to bed as well, but I'm always recording everything and watching on-demand later. I also have been known to pull out my smartphone and watch the [as] app during breaks in live music shows for instance. But lately for me the shows are REALLY compelling (ESPECIALLY the first 4), so it becomes a lot harder to do that.
  2. The nature of sports bars is that they can only do events that are happening on the national broadcast stage. Last weekend we had 9 conference championships and a UFC match. This week we've got a few basketball games, the FCS Championship game, the Army/Navy football game, the Heisman presentation, and a boxing match. I rest my case. Besides, sports bars are pretty much a non-entity to this discussion. It's not like they would ever show Toonami (No, not even MegaloBox Season 2, which is a shame). Other "geek-oriented" programming like the Star Wars marathon on TNT and hell, even TZGZ is more of a threat to Toonami this weekend than what sports bars will show.
  3. Why do you say that? As far as I know, since this week is fall final exams and graduation all over the country, there are very few college football games this weekend. College BASKETBALL, on the other hand, well, graduation is usually in their arenas so there won't be that many but there should still be quite a few! But of course we've still got the Heisman presentation. And for some ungodly reason Boxing after that. I won't be watching either, but I WILL be at a college basketball game (go figure) that evening and then probably a concert after that. So, I won't be watching much Toonami until later on when JoJo and Lupin are on, but I WILL be recording the shows! On that note... 4. Don't know how you're gonna take this, but I feel this song would be at home on U.S. Active Rock radio along with the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Ghost, and Skillet!
  5. Necro-bumping this to say I'm watching some back episodes before I delete them from my DVR to make room for new stuff, and I just noticed that in this episode, after Inojin got his groove back, he animated the Twitter logo!
  6. Except it wasn't 2 college football games--it was 9! EVERY FBS Conference Championship was played on Saturday but one, the PAC, which was Friday night!
  7. Updated... Yeah, it's clear Toonami's seen better days, but those better days weren't this time last year, at least not for these timeslots, as this absolutely blows that week's corresponding time frame's pitiful 269K out of the water. Interestingly enough, NOT the entire block, though, as that averaged 302K! It should also be noted that in a true block-to-block comparison, the 2018 block actually wins more often in total viewers, but that's probably beside the point because the slots that were Toonami then and are not Toonami now are certainly getting better ratings for Adult Swim as a whole. It did end up making the Toonami slots in 2019 more valuable on a year-to-year basis though. In terms of 18-49, though, it seems this lineup actually places 43rd, beating out the ones around Halloween (10/26 and 11/2)! We won't know until Programming Insider posts the full numbers later, though!
  8. Do you mean College Football Conference Championships? Yes, it was. This week Toonami always tends to do pretty badly. If you're talking about UFC Fight Night, that placed #4.
  9. About those year-to-year comparisons I mentioned, these are the averages: Total Viewer Averages - Toonami slots 11P-4A 9/29/18 343,900 9/28/19 472,800 10/6/18 303,000 10/5/19 431,900 10/13/18 355,800 10/12/19 326,900 10/20/18 284,200 10/19/19 336,900 10/27/18 297,600 10/26/19 333,000 11/3/18 332,125 11/2/19 333,600 11/10/18 332,500 11/9/19 330,300 11/17/18 250,600 11/16/19 337,700 11/24/18 317,100 11/23/19 445,800 12/1/18 338,300 11/30/19 369,600 As you can see, with only 2 exceptions, the common 5 hours of the 2019 block outrated the corresponding 5 hours in the 2018 block every week but two! And as for the 18-49s... Adults 18-49 Average - Toonami slots 11P-4A 9/29/18 221,800 9/28/19 325,500 10/6/18 189,700 10/5/19 295,000 10/13/18 199,200 10/12/19 223,300 10/20/18 169,600 10/19/19 225,700 10/27/18 169,400 10/26/19 193,900 11/3/18 192,500 11/2/19 187,100 11/10/18 187,600 11/9/19 212,300 11/17/18 140,000 11/16/19 206,400 11/24/18 166,700 11/23/19 256,900 12/1/18 207,600 11/30/19 263,100 Even more striking, the ONLY week that the 18-49s of 2019 didn't beat those of 2018 was 11/3/18-11/2/19--and THAT gets taken away if you take out the suspicious ratings for 3:30 AM which may have actually even been a non-Toonami show! So it's plain to see at least now 2019 is kicking 2018's ass, and it looks like that trend will even continue this week, as the known timeslots have a 330K average in total viewers, and the corresponding slots last year only a 270K average!
  10. MHA did pretty well, but then the bottom fell out! http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-12-7-2019.html Off the chart, JoJo (GioGio?) checked in at #62 (in 18-49) with 207K and 0.11 18-49, while Lupin III Part 5 concluded at #60 with 203K and 0.12 18-49. Interesting to note that Steven Universe Future averaged over 800K. Too bad that lead-in was wasted on Bob's Burgers! If Toonami had had a lead-in like that last year, it might have turned the tide on a really weak time in Toonami's viewership. MHA is strong, but not as strong as it could have been if it were a dub premiere. However, on a year-to-year basis, this Toonami block HAS proven to be stronger in the past couple of months, and this week even continues that trend...
  11. This will be reposted in this week's Fire Force discussion thread!
  12. True, but it DOES have a way to watch those episode streaming 48 hours earlier, and yet TWD isn't doing as well as it used to be doing in the ratings, but it's still doing well!
  13. Do y'all not watch The Walking Dead on AMC? It's taking off not only December, but January as well, returning in February.
  14. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/fire-force/episode-18/.153610 Rating: 2.5, in case anyone was wondering! Where the hell was Shinra's head!?
  15. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/food-wars-shokugeki-no-soma/episode-21/.92262 Grade: "B". I thought the "stinky dish" stuff was downright hilarious!! So we're gonna be stuck on this arc for a LOOOOOOONG time, huh? Like, this Fall Selection challenge isn't resolved at the end of Season 1? That must have been PAINFUL to watchers of the original Japanese, but I can't see us not just going into Season 2 seamlessly!
  16. I'm catching up on some review posting for shows I watched but couldn't post during last night. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/one-punch-man-season-2/episode-9/.147823 Rating: 3.5☆. Lots was going on in this episode, but the central story of OPM seems to be Saitama's depression...
  17. Release dates CAN and DO get pushed back! Besides, even if we don't get dub premieres of the 3rd Plate, we MIGHT get them of the 4th Plate!
  18. The classic showdown that isn't even the biggest showdown in the series! And that soothing ED music... And of course, we get a preview! LATER!!
  19. The comic calm before the shocking... ...STORM!!!
  20. I call BS! No way Conny was more capable than Sasha or Christa!
  21. At this point, I'm really not sure Fire Force isn't like that too! But other shows Toonami have aired like that are Pop Team Epic and I guess Space Dandy?
  22. Ami's muted speech and ear computer beeping at the end were an interesting development. Part 6 might be set in Spain or something and pick up exactly where Part 5 left off...or not...? https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/lupin-the-third-part-5/episode-24/.136999 Grade: "A-". I'm certainly looking forward to more Lupin, and glad we've got a one-off OVA special next week!
  23. Episode #04: Night Of The Closing Ceremony - Humanity's Comeback, Part 2 - When I first saw this episode, I was in Atlanta watching with Bryce Papenbrook and a large crowd of other fans! And DAMN do I ever love that Hiroyuki Sawano background music! He has such an epic style to his scores!
