Still Me Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) If she’s receiving successful treatment and isn’t suffering it’s not a “put down” question. My elder cat is blind and has kidney issues. I’m not about to dr kevorkian her for that. She’s fucking fine Edited May 4 by Still Me Quote

MasqueradeOverture Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Unless the vet explicitly says "she needs to be put down" you better fucking not. Quote

You keep a fighting baby alive until you can’t anymore. That’s being a pet owner. Loving and doing whatever you can do for them until the end Quote

[classic swim] Posted May 4 Posted May 4 At least you’re not the person I know who put her old as dirt dog to sleep after she continually fed it McDonald’s and Wendy’s and gets shocked when it shits all over the house. Quote
Insipid Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Honestly, you're the owner. You decide what's right for your pet. 1 Quote

It’s not because they want to take your money, it’s because their primary focus is to make every treatment option at their disposal available to their patients. Ghosty, unfortunately there is no right path. You can almost always treat a pet until they pass on their own, but doing so may be cruel to them. Even if a treatment is working, their quality of life won’t be acceptable. And the vet won’t know if it is or is not, only you will. Quote

scoobdog Posted May 13 Posted May 13 The worst part is that you will doubt yourself no matter what happens. Either you didn't give them a chance to pull through or you made them suffer longer just so you could feel better about yourself. It doesn't matter. They're family, and it's going to tear you up no matter what happens. 2 Quote
