when One Piece Stampede premiered in the states, it was shortly after Oda gave us a ronam letting transliteration of the island's name for the first time. i remember being confused in the theater when they called it Laugh Tale

I went over the naming issue in last week's thread, but we first heard about the island under the name "Raftel" very very early in the story, from Crocus (Laboon's caretaker) at Reverse Mountain. I think he mentions it when he's explaining how a Log Pose works.

No, Minks and Zoan Devil Fruit users are two separate things. The Minks are a naturally-occurring race of humanoid animals. Zoan Devil Fruits allow the user to turn into a normal animal. If a Mink ate a Zoan fruit that was the same species as them, it probably wouldn't do anything other than make them unable to swim; Oda confirmed that's what would happen if a normal human ate Chopper's Human-Human Fruit. In a way the Minks are almost like the natural version of what Chopper became after eating his fruit.
