Jman Posted August 11 Posted August 11 https://variety.com/2025/film/news/channing-tatum-rebecca-wang-demon-slayer-kimetsu-no-yaiba-infinity-castle-1236486729/ I don’t see how many people buy tickets because of those two, but that’s assuredly a choice. Apparently Tatum watched the anime with his kid. Quote
Mr. Idea Box Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I mean, if Robert Pattinson can be in a Ghibli dub, why not add Channing Tatum to the Demon Slayer cast? Who's next? Christopher Walken in an English dub of Vagabond? 1 Quote
Toonamiguy321 Posted August 12 Posted August 12 That is certainly a choice. Not a smart choice, but a choice. Seems they are trying to lure more people to the theater with big names, but that’s not the type of people who go see anime movies. 47 minutes ago, Mr. Idea Box said: I mean, if Robert Pattinson can be in a Ghibli dub, why not add Channing Tatum to the Demon Slayer cast? Maybe not lure to the theater but get the word out on talk shows and the like. You can have Tatum on Seth Meyers or Kimmel discussing Infinity Castle. Not so much the usual VA’s. 1 Quote

A weird thing that zero people in the target audience know about or understand and it ends up just being an awkward 5-10 minutes for everyone involved. Even if Tatum knows the series, it’s like yapping about anime to someone who has no idea what you are on about and can only politely nod until they are given an exit from the conversation. Quote
Jman Posted August 17 Author Posted August 17 (edited) I feel like it’s a pretty good story to tell. He gets into the show because his daughter did. They show up to a premiere with her in costume, then he gets a voice role. It’s not what I’d call a story with a small target audience. “My daughter couldn’t have given a shit about Magic Mike but is thrilled I’m in Demon Slayer.” Then again this might be why talk shows are on their way out.
