The Chiefs are Done with a capital D.  Cooked. Fried.  It is over.  And what pisses me off is that every single prediction called a Chiefs win.

I know this is an NFL thread, but if the Golden Domer fans on the web keep whining, maybe FIFA will create a Bowl Game just for them.

They’re the Chiefs of college.

How is that dude a grandfather at 44?

Oh Scoob

Bless your little heart

He's from the south

He (along with about 20-30% of the rest of people in the area) tend to have a kid by the time they're 18

Every sports outlet is leading like he’s 80 and hobbling out to the huddle on a cane whittled by his great great grandpappy at Elmira in ‘64.

It's because he's 44

Not still playing at 44, coming off the couch after 5 years to play again at 44.

Like Steve Young pointed out, those players on the field spend their entire season training to not get injured... and they still get injured at times.

It’s mostly cuz he retired in ‘21 so that’s 4 years of not playing. It’s crazy 😆

Well, if he doesn’t die, they’ll probably make a movie about it in 10 years.

I know, but that’s the ridiculous part.  He’s not much more likely to get injured than a 44 year old who’s an active player, so long as he trains like any other 44 year old.  LeBron is still dunking on people at 41 (well, as of 12/30).  That’s not to say that either Rivers or Bron aren’t extremely old for any professional sport, or that he’s going to be only a fraction of the quarterback he was when retired. But, no one talks about Bron as an old man.

The difference is that we are watching LeBron evolve with age in real time, and there’s a four (?) year gap between Rivers then and now.

In my 28 years of being a Falcons fan/victim, this is the second worst season I've seen.  The only one that tops it is the Bobby Petrino "year" (that chicken-shit bitch couldn't even tough it out for an entire 16 games).  This is very bleak.

Scoob, I think we're on different channels. It's not River's age specifically. It's his age, plus having not played for over 4 1/2 years. Lebron has never taken a break (aside from injuries).

I'm not critiquing them for signing an older QB, I'm more or less worried Rivers is going to spontaneously combust if someone like Myles Garrett hits him full speed

I’m trying to say that’s bunk.  It’s a myth that stopping a particular physical activity for an extended period of time causes your body to degrade faster than those who don’t stop.  It’s the old “use it or lose it” mentality.

That's the channel, scoob!

I knew we would find it. I am not saying he's going to degrade faster, more or less comparing it to, let's say you deciding to get back into college marching band shape and tomorrow you go out and try to immediately march say.... 8 miles? (I don't know what you do for a living, or how physically active you are. Spit balling here)

It's not the "degrade faster" it's the "dear mother of every fuck ever, why am I alive today?!?!?!" the next day feeling.

You mean like march the Rose Parade?   I probably could if I really had to.

What you're talking about is just normal conditioning.  I think where I'm losing you here is that you're elevating that to a catastrophic level when it's different from age 20 to age 40.  Rivers isn't going to be an option quarterback - he never was and he came from a time when quarterbacks that were were oddities.  He's not going to be blocking anyone.  He's going to stay in the pocket and unload that ball as fast as humanly possible.  And that would be true even if he had played every snap the past 4+ years because it reflects his basic motor degradation for a man his age.  But, the next day, he's going to be just as sore as a quarterback half his age would be.
