Ninja Kamui Renewed For Two Additional, Unnecessary Seasons

Sure, why the hell not I guess.

Weird thing though, I still had the subbed version sitting on my DVR, so I recently forced myself through the rewatch for some reason and...didn't think it was that bad as a whole? Honestly its biggest crime was blowing its load early with the awesome fight scenes in the first few episodes, then inexplicably shifting to those dumbass mech suits for the rest of it. I can forgive a lot of dumb plot if there's cool action but that severely slipped.

Episode 11 was good. Actually, that little fight that took place around 10-11 almost matched the quality of the first 5.

I look forward to 2 new seasons! Maybe we'll even endear ourselves to a new female character who reaches the end of 2!

I expected it to be renewed, since they were kind of tooting their horn about how it was being received early on ratings-wise, but two more seasons? What are they gonna do if season two totally flops? Guess they must feel pretty confident that won't happen. I just wonder what kind of villain they're gonna be able to come up with that can top Yamaji. Zai's still out there I guess, but feels like he would be a more likely ally going forward than enemy. Maybe some other rival Ninja clan from the past that was thought to have been annihilated? Or they could always do aliens, or demons or something like that I guess. Although, stuff like that would be changing it into like an entirely different show, so probably, hopefully, not anything like that. Guess we'lll see.

I personally didn't mind the Gusoku Gear, so it tickles me that that was majority opinion's fatal flaw for Kamui. The insistence on imbuing every main and supporting character with excessive tragedy, on the other hand, oof...

Yamaji did have that weird dual eye that I don’t believe was ever touched on beyond revealing he had it. I suppose that could be an ayy lmao pivot.

I feel like a lot of the hate towards the gear is centered on it being where most of the mediocre CGI is found, rather than the concept of the gear itself. We went from cool 2d fights to CGI sloppa. If the gear was less CGI (no way some of those parts like the fade guys snakes could have been 2d) then the hate wouldn’t be nearly as strong.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. I do think there is potential in a Season 2 for Ninja Kamui. Doesn't mean it won't have flaws.

Ninja Kamui getting a THIRD season, on the other hand? I highly doubt that would happen, let alone work.

Oh well. At least Primal Season 3 is said to come early next year. And that new Steven Universe spin-off for Prime Video looks pretty good.
