Well, this episode was double length. If it was split in two, the Nezuko cliffhanger would've been resolved in the second episode. 1

My guess is because it makes the finale more event programming.  Not to mention when they run it back as part of those theatrical previews, you don’t feel jipped watching.  Not sure how next season will handle the finale though given that the Infinity Castle arc will be a movie trilogy. 1

Although if you ask me it was still the strongest show in Toonami's "Night Of Finales", they finally told us about like 30 minutes after the fact after DBZ Kai and leading-in to R&M: Samurai & Shogun.
