Maybe I'm just remember ASMB

I remember doing so on that

....I think you could remove posts but I'm not sure about threads....I honestly don't remember but leaning towards you couldn't because I feel like of I could, I would have gotten banned less

I one hundred percent sure you could but you probably didn't realize

On ASMB, your ability to delete a post was tethered to whether it was anchored by a direct reply, but the IPB software doesn't categorize posts that way.

Because the software doesn't distinguish that, or between posts and threads generally, if an OP deleted their OP it would delete the entire thread. So it's turned off by default for everyone.

Some (likely older) non-volunteer custom ranks have the ability to hide their posts, but that's best explained as a horribly tedious cleanup/conforming job that's as far down the list as possible.

I do remember the stipulation that threads with no responses could be deleted.

I guess....I mean, I was in babbling and unless it was 3am, there was always responses.

But I rarely regret my threads (even when I'm wrong) so I guess I never needed the option

Wasn't time also a factor?  Like over an the option goes away?  It was probably longer but if forgot to delete early and came back later in the day I couldn't

Like early even with replies I remember deleting threads
