Breaking: Schedules for 5/7 and 5/14: PRIMAL reruns at Midnight; no new shows

They made the wrong sequel.  They should have made a second LA Bleach movie, not a second LA FMA movie.  And they dragged poor Mackenyu Arata out for it as well, because apparently he wants to be in EVERY LA adaptation of a manga to show they don't have to suck (he was in the last Kenshin film which is considered a genuinely good samurai movie, as well as the upcoming One Piece show and the Saint Seiya movie).

As for the anime, I could see them being interested, especially since the whole financial implosion has them getting MORE anime while canceling domestic productions.

Personally, I'm wondering if the return of Bleach is a big enough deal that Netflix would want dibs on it. It was a big franchise in its heyday, but the original anime ended over a decade ago. And consider all the people who love to say that the series was never good after the first arc, which might mute any nostalgia factor the new show has going for it. I guess we'll see what happens... and believe me, I want Toonami to get this one as much as the next guy.

I think the real test for whether this block will be able to keep punching above its weight is the next season of MHA. Either Crunchyroll is going to get it and may or may not let Toonami have it, or the Japanese companies take Sketch's suggestion to heart. But at that point, will they have enough money in the budget to air it anyway?

Yeah That will be the real test as we don't know how many companies think like toei and would jump at the chance to be featured on american television....

thing about bleach's return is would enough people(Nielsen viewership wise...anyways)tune into it to make toonami saving up funds just to throw it at that worth it?

Oh, I don't doubt it would do well for Toonami. The nostalgia factor may be muted, but I'm sure there are a lot of old-school (err.. new-school? Weird to think, since the block has been around so long) Toonami and even [asa] fans who would come crawling back to see the end of Bleach. It would work better for us than it would Netflix. And as for ratings concerns, the modern era of Toonami (as in, the last two or three years) has had decreased expectations, so I don't think it would matter much.

Netflix is having problems?  And an implosion?

TBS and TNT won't make any scripted shows?  That's pure madness!

If Toonami doesn't get Bleach that will be an even bigger disappointment!  It only makes sense since the series originally aired on ASA and Toonami!  And again, I hope the anime fixes some of the issues last arc of the manga had.

It's not hard to see why there is overlap between anime and wrestling fans.  Wrestling is a "male soap opera" and so is Shonen, so it's a pretty natural overlap.  Both wrestling and anime are also reviled by non-fans, so to be a fan of both is almost asking for trouble LOL.  And to be fair, there are some animes, and some things that have happened in wrestling over the years, where you'd probably be better off getting caught watching porn than either one!

Would you rather get caught watching HHH fuck a fake body of a dead girl, someone fed their own dog, Heidenreich raping Michael Cole, Snitsky kick a baby doll into the crowd over the miscarriage he said WASN'T HIS FAULT, or one of the SAO Rapisodes, certain scenes of Deadman Wonderland, Hellsing Ultimate, Code Geass, Tokyo Ghoul, Akame Ga Kill, or some garden variety vanilla porno?  The way the fans of both act can be embarrassing as well.

So, you really have to not care what people think to like wrestling or anime, or keep your fandom closeted.  And it would be pretty silly for fans of only one or the other to cast aspersions on the other.  Though ironically, anime is probably more tolerated than wrestling by non-fans at this point.

That said, I don't want that bingo parlor pig sty AEW on Toonami, either! xD I've recently dropped it after getting fed up with the behavior of Toxic Tony Khan and his Asshole Acolytes.  Hell, AEW fans are already paranoid about the new execs after the merger getting rid of AEW.  Around 20 years ago new Turner execs got rid of WCW because they hated wrestling.

Truthfully, TBS and TNT have been winding down on scripted shows for a while now but they WarnerDiscovery must really be intending to pivot both networks to include more live sports, unscripted tv series and movies on top of syndicated reruns of comedies on TBS and dramas on TNT to fill the day hours. Scripted live action series will be made almost exclusively for HBO Max. American Dad has a few more seasons under contract at TBS but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't renewed again.

Hard to say if that culling of departments will bleed into Adult Swim but on the Cartoon Network side they just announced a couple more series in development so maybe the Adult Swim upfront later this month will put those concerns to bed.

It says a lot about how few goodies/promos we've had lately that a lineup promo airing is worth talking about. Apparently, the Toonami staff have even less free time than James Rolfe. They didn't even alter the AssClass topical to say it's airing at 12:30 now. But yeah, I like it so, even if I could've done without the maybe transphobic clip from One Piece at the end. Reminds me of @mochi, wherever that dude is nowadays.

As much as I dislike the newkama jokes in One Piece, the “up all night” line certainly works in context. Perhaps they could have spliced the dialogue with a different scene though.

If they are going to those lengths, it makes you wonder why they don't just kill off TBS and TNT entirely and make everyone pay for HBO Max if they want to watch any sports, wrestling, unscripted stuff etc.  I wasn't even thinking of that sort of thing bleeding over into Adult Swim.  I sure hope not!

Nobody knows what happened to Mochi, but I bet it had something to do with him posting hentai of Deku and getting even the legal forms of hentai banned from the boards as a result.

Mochi pretty ragequit after that Deku pic he posted got all the porn and hentai banned.

Those characters were in the lineup promo?

Yeah the two burly newkama that nursed Sanji back to health and gave him blood transfusions are shown at the end of the lineup promo.

BTW, they fixed the lineup promo to say Toonami is 12am-4am rather than 12am-3:30am. They also got the time right on the Ass Class promo this week, 12:30am instead of Midnight.
