Is there such a thing as life long imposter syndrome?

I'll post a genuine answer this time.  I think it's garden-variety low self-esteem based on expectations that were set in childhood by media and adults.  Practically all consumable media from the 80s and 90s was about the normal becoming extraordinary, and it's been drilled in our heads that "you can do anything as long as you believe."  Even from the mid to late 90s, when everything was sarcastic and counterculture, media was produced to say "being weird makes you awesome and you're gonna be supercool as an adult."  Then reality set in and the vast majority of people haven't achieved anything because we were forced into debt from the get-go and now we're just dragging along with our noses above the water.

TL;DR: we live in a society.
