André Toulon Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Psh, alternators aren't that bad if you can find a place to repair it. I don't think I've ever had to totally get a new one. But not like I know what's wrong with yours
Rogue_Alphonse Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 I just did mine in an AutoZone parking lot on my recent 1,030 mile road trip... $110 and 30 minutes. Depending on the car, it can be pretty easy (if you have a reliable friend who isn't a hack and knows his way around cars)... and if you're able to wait, get one on Amazon. I got a shitty remanufactured Duralast for $110 because I had no choice, but if I could have waited I would have gotten a muuuuch better brand new ACDelco part for $85. AND I had to take the old one in to get a $45 core. At least I was in the parking lot
helpme Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 It cost me around $300 and every mechanic can agree my car is a nightmare to get into right @Rogue_Alphonse?

renjifan Posted December 3, 2019 Author Posted December 3, 2019 I have a 2012 Chevy Captiva. They told me it was going to cost $630... 😭😭😭
Ginguy Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 That's a little on the high side, but not outrageous, national average is $589. Again, bummer to hear about it, have a glass of Moscato and sad tunes.... 1

renjifan Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 Update - My warranty actually ended up covering most of it and I only had to pay about $150. Yay! ☺️ 2
