Roast pork loin with pineapple glaze = pork fritter with salad dressing
mashed potatoes in brown gravy = box taters and powdered gravy + pork fritter drippings

I don't know the term, "fritter"'.  

We call it a menu item because there's a variety available each day.  Maybe you don't eat pork   So, you could choose eggplant parmigiana, rice pilaf, spinach pasta or just go to the deli bar and make a sandwich.
