I find it uncomfortable to hold both eyes open in the sun and can only do it for a few seconds, and i spend the whole time fighting against eyes that want to close.

If i only open my right eye im fine though.

Am i gonna die?

Occasionally my eyes get REALLY sensitive to light and I can't keep them open for more than a split second. One time it was weird as hell it was cloudy AND I was wearing a baseball cap but it still hurt to keep my eyes open. It was pretty awkward because a relative of my then new sister in law was talking to me, and I couldn't even look at him when we were talking.

foreal, light sensitivity is super sucky. i don't go outside during the daytime without wearing sunglasses, because i'd have to squint so hard that i may as well have my eyes closed. driving is the same way. it's well after sunset before i even think to take them off. people give me a hard time about it but whatever. i'd probably wear sunglasses inside too, if it was more acceptable. must be one of the fun qualities of all these irish genes.

Have you got what my Eye Doctor called "the double whammy", light blue eyes with large pupils?  She advised me not go out without sunglasses with UV protection during daylight hours - even on cloudy days.

The weird part is, when I'm stoned and my eyes are dilated, I can hold both eyes open just fine.

Yeah, but you could be doing damage even though it doesn't feel like it.

I'm the opposite in I usually have to keep my right eye shut in strong sunlight, even with sunglasses. Horribly photosensitive. I hate summer because I have to wear long sleeves and gloves when outside for any length of time or I start to burn. :(

Looks like you have the wide pupil thing.  You could be damaging your retinas if you go out without sunglasses.

That sounds like absolute hell. Is wearing long sleeves more tolerable than sunblock? Or does sunblock just not work well enough for you?

On particularly bright days, often early morning or evening, on the drive to/from work, I'll fantasize about having some gauze or something to wrap over my eyes, as the sunglasses alone just don't cut it.

They don't make sunblock strong enough. A long sleeved button-up dude shirt is quicker to throw on and take off.

There are plenty of days where the first thing I do when I get home is shed everything and stand in a cold shower until I can actually feel the cold water.
