I could say I saw a car bobbing and weaving on the Black Horse Pike while the driver was texting.

Then, some nitwit says, "Nuh uhhh... You liar... You would never see that because you don't drive..."

You won't see that if you're riding a bus?

Then, the same inbred moron says I'm adding to the story.

As someone who has severe allergies, I can tell you, cigarette smoke does have a smell. A stifling smell. It messes with me as soon as I smell it. I don't know how this is even up for debate. If the people you smoked around weren't affected by it, well, they are probably smokers too.

The question was whether my nose works.  The scent of bacon says it does.

we've established you're incapable of answering the question of whether a cigarette smells. anyone with a working nose can provide the answer. but not you. therefore, i cannot assume you know what bacon smells like either, hence your answer being a non sequitur.

if you can smell bacon, you're also able to answer my question. so i'll ask it again. what does a cigarette smell like?

The question does not warrant an answer.

Hint: Regardless of labeling, all hotel rooms are open season for smokers.

Ask the folks who didn't notice.

It's not that they didn't notice, it's that they know that complaining will bring about a series of rationalizations even more noxious and irritating than the smoke itself.

sure it does. it's a fair question, asked of a person who should be well-suited to provide an answer as a smoker himself. and it's a very simple question to answer. apart from having a binary response, it's also experience-based and you have like 60 years of that. so what does a cigarette smell like?
