nameraka Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 (edited) well not every day. i recently learned there's a term for something i've been experiencing my whole life. brain zaps. basically it's a random occurrence that feels kinda like someone put an electrode to your head. i've gotten them periodically since i was a kid, usually as i'm trying to fall asleep. apparently they're a byproduct of extreme anxiety. (which would make sense) sometimes people also get them when they're on antidepressants. (which i've never been on) i'm just floored that there's a name for a thing that i always thought was just my body being weird. anyway... enlighten us with your newly acquired learning. CAC Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 I mean I've gotten like a full body spasm before right when I was almost asleep to keep me awake for some damn reason if that's kinda the same.

I've gotten those and they do seem to come at night. Even weirder, you know the feeling you get when your arm or leg falls asleep? I was walking through a store I worked at & suddenly my whole body felt that way. I had to grab a counter to keep from falling over. Then as quickly as it happened, it disappeared. Scared the crap out of me - thankfully, it only happened once.

Psychiatric drugs can give you the zaps too. Especially when u stop taking them. I got them while weaning off lexapro. I didn't know u can get them without meds causing it. That fucking sucks!

That sounds like something that might warrant a visit to the doctor...
