Do you think it would be possible to make a 1-dimensional open world game?

Its pretty easy to make a 2d open world game, they were all the rage back in the day before 3d.

But could you make an open-world game that exists along a singular axis? No depth, no height, no north or south, just a line?

2-D good.

3-D bad.

Haven't fapped to 1-D yet. Need to conduct experiment.

You need help, and Jesus.

If we saw the line, that would mean it has enought of a height to be visible? Thus wouldn't it have to be 2 dimensional?

Ive been wrestling with that...

I mean, 2d sidescrollers have the illusion of depth as the characters appear in front of the background, so one could argue that the representation of the line visible in two dimensions is still, in practice, only a single one...

I could be wrong but I think that's already been done.
