Really? Well that’s a let down. Marathoning the show only to restart the season in the same slot for two more weeks before FLCLA finishes its rerun so it can move in and make way for Megalo Box. As bleh as three weeks of Titan reruns at midnight would be it’s preferable to a marathon that nukes the rest of the premieres for a week.

Pop Team Epic Is Rerunning on November 11th

While it's possible they maybe had other options but didn't go with them, it does seem odd that they didn't finalize this schedule till now when it's just a recent rerun anyway. -

It's replacing One-Punch Man. Technically Mob replaced Cowboy Bebop or more technically Mob replaced a 2nd Jack which replaced Bebop. But let's not be THAT technical. That and FLCL moved down to the rerun block to make room for Mob at 11:30PM. -
Very peculiar but if it means we get Megalo Box on November 24th, then so be it. It's entirely possible that they are able to start airing it two weeks earlier than originally planned. I think that’s what’s up because otherwise they could have used filler for Titan’s slot on November 17th, done this marathon on November 24th and started Megalo Box on December 1st. They're really not flexing their creative muscle if they felt this was the best way to dealing with Titan ending two weeks before Thanksgiving weekend. Doubling up JoJo, Clover or Jack at the end is simple enough. If this means two marathons in November then they should have just took Oct 27th off and started Mob this week but we should at least get Megalo Box on December 1st which would allow it to air 3 episodes before the December break instead of just two. However if I'm right about the regular line-up airing on November 24th then Megalo Box gets 4 episodes to establish itself before the December break and that's preferable. Thanksgiving weekend doesn't always do poorly for Toonami so they could run the regular line-up that weekend. While AL might be right on the money about a DBS marathon taking advantage of the fact that Goku Blue is appearing in the Macy's parade, it's not like DBS wouldn't be airing one way or the other and a DBS marathon could be held on December 22nd instead. So okay if they actually do two marathons in November then they definitely should have taken October 27th off and this would be the oddest Saturday to run a marathon on thus far but we'll live. And if they actually can't start Megalo Box until December 8th regardless that better be strictly because the dub won't be ready till then, which unfortunately is possible but I'm hoping that won't be the case.

People got tired of waiting for the anime and just read the manga until they even lost interest in that. I do think season 2 actually did decently for Toonami at the time despite losing plenty of viewers from DBZ Kai but season three is showing more apparent apathy.

Crunchyroll, Toonami Teaming Up For Adult Swim Programming
Sketch replied to saito34's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I was thinking that Wrap article was making something out of nothing but DeMarco went and said this so I don’t know anymore. https://ask.fm/Clarknova/answers/150733725929 -
DBZ Kai gained 18+ viewers from the Regular Show Halloween episodes. Can’t really fault it there.

A 5 hour block that just repeats at 1AM seems like a waste. They'd also have to make sure that the 12:30AM show that would repeat at 5:30AM isn't TV-MA or preferably not a heavy TV-14. With as many premieres as they have now, 5 hours arguably isn't enough space. I mean do you guys really want this to be all of what Toonami is? 08:00 - Dragon Ball Z Kai 08:30 - My Hero Academia 09:00 - Black Clover 09:30 - Boruto 10:00 - Dragon Ball Super 10:30 - Megalo Box 11:00 - Mob Psycho 100 11:30 - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure 12:00 - Hunter x Hunter 12:30 - Naruto Shippuden Even if they were to dump Kai to weeknights in favor of having a recent rerun after all 9 premieres, they'd potentially run into the content issue with that rerun slot that would repeat at 5:30AM.

MOB PSYCHO 100 On Toonami Starting October 27th 11:30!
Sketch replied to The1gairon's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Looking back, Mob's dub didn't start rolling out of FUNimation's site until December of 2016 and the series premiered in Japan in July of 2016. That's 4 months after it started and 1 month after it ended in Japan. Definitely not close to the 6 week turn-around Durarara x2 had. SAOII finished airing in Japan in late December of 2014 and premiered on Toonami in March of 2015, just about 3 months later and it was 24 episodes. One-Punch Man finished airing in Japan in late December 2015 and premiered on Toonami in July of 2016, about 7 months later. Megalo Box may not be BangZoom but it finished in Japan in late June and will start on Toonami in December about 6 months later. So even a 3 month turn-around for Mob season 2 would be pretty remarkable for BangZoom but who knows? -

And if February is too soon then they could always replace Mob with something in February and have season 2 replace Megalo Box in March. Either way if CR is willing, Mob season 2 could potentially have it's dub premiere on Toonami. -

It’s rare for BZ to be as fast as FUNimation but they were 6 weeks behind Japan for Durarara x2 when the dub premiered on Hulu. Aside from that they have done dubs fast enough to release 12-13 episodes right after the show ends in Japan for Netflix. I think 4-6 weeks behind Japan is doable for BZ now and maybe they can do 2-3 weeks even but they’re not pulling that off unless the materials arrive early. -
Because someone on staff decided to do these posts now despite most of them being old news. I guess they were inspired by DeMarco implying Franxx won't be considered for Toonami. Though there certainly are people who still ask Toonami to air Sailor Moon so the topic remains relevant I guess. Personally I thought these posts weren't necessary and wouldn't have made them myself. Oh well.

I mean... FLCL2/3 filled plenty of reasonably large panel rooms this year. But it's not Dragon Ball and it never will be.

Show announcement: Megalo Box on December 8
Sketch replied to Blatch's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I was thinking Ray Chase for JunkDog/Joe despite my circle of friends all feeling like Steve Blum is the ideal voice for him. It would be a great role for him to come out of semi-anime retirement on but he’s not the only option. I need Beau Billingslea as Nanbu though. Beau has been in HxH recently and he wasn’t Morel or the old man on Gundam IBO so I really want him for Nanbu. That said, you have a solid pick with Michael McConnohie. Jameson Price is also an option. Seitz could be Yuri but I think it’s more of a Kirk Thornton, Crispan Freeman or Liam O’Brien type role. Or maybe Cam Clarke, he was in JoJo recently as elder Darby. Erica Mendez works for Sachio but there’s a ton of options for him and the other kids. -

Even I don't really want One Piece back on Toonami. Make no mistake, I'd enjoy having it there and I'd watch it to support it but it's only going to do worse and worse because that pacing is garbage tier and they won't be able to get new viewers to tune in for it even if it's in a good time slot (which it wouldn't be). Not to mention there's 8 series on that are either ongoing or have 100+ episodes. It's way too many even for a 7 hour block. At least let Hunter x Hunter finish and leave before anyone suggests they start airing One Piece again. Sure I'd rather have One Piece than Kai reruns but everyone knows Kai reruns are the smarter investment.

It’s not long currently though it’s over 60 episodes. However, if it continues to get a new season every year then it’ll reach 100 episodes in a couple more years and possibly go beyond that. Toonami won’t catch up till season 4 at this rate (sometime in 2020). Season 4 hasn’t been announced yet for 2019 but it’s dang likely it will happen. Otherwise, MHA will catch up to the end of season 3 on Toonami about one year from now.

Well yeah, there used to be 3am premieres when Toonami ran 11:30-6am in 2014. It was the only way to have 7-8 premieres when they started late. They stopped premieres for 3am in 2015 when they shrank to 6 premieres and one rerun. One Piece ran at 2:30am from 2015 till 2017, then Shippuden was at 2:30am briefly. They stopped doing 2:30am premieres in 2017 when they re-expanded to 11pm (after briefly taking it away) by shifting the premieres a half hour earlier and adding a rerun of AoT season 2 at 3am. That was around when GITS was replaced by Outlaw Star and Bebop came back in HD for a full run. If you consider Outlaw Star a premiere then they kept up 2:30am premieres until OS ended earlier this year. At that point Toonami had 10:30pm for several months. Now that they’ve pushed Shippuden to 10pm and start at 9pm, they have nothing premiering at 2am but they have the most premieres they’ve ever had at one time. 2am premieres made sense when Toonami started after 11pm much less midnight but now 2am is better suited for reruns if for no other reason than 2am being 5 hours into the block and that’s a whole lot to sit through to get to the 2am show. That said, because they filled up 3.5 hours with long runners, perhaps a 2am premiere isn’t so unreasonable if it’s a cheap show. Or they could put something after JoJo and bump HxH or Clover to 2am like Shippuden used to be. 10 premieres is a heck of a lot though.
-
Technically Naruto Shippuden at 2am but for 2:30 (which may as well be 2am now) it was the return run of Outlaw Star. Before that, Lupin was at 1:30.

9 premieres isn’t down an engine. It’s more like adding engines. 🤨 Honestly 9-11:30 being long series is fine, it makes sense to put those there. The current frustration is that 12:30-2am is also long series and 11:30-12:30 is the only hour for experimentation. Hopefully they are creative filling that hour next year, don’t replace HxH with another long series and maybe use 2am for obscure premieres in the meantime.
-
9pm is a garbage time slot that is best left to a rerun. Though IMO they could have just started with the Naruto hour rather than bring in DBZ Kai. Toss Clover up earlier and stick something short at 1am or 1:30am. That said, they have 9 premieres even without using 9pm or 2am for a premiere. That’s plenty. It’s just too bad 7 out of 9 are 60+ episode series. I figure maintaining more than two rotating slots has become problematic as the hours have expanded but they should be able to maintain 3, especially since one is an original series that was planned for two years.

I’m down with 00. The only classic Gundam I’d like to see is G Gundam or 0080. I think the year long length of most Gundam is a bit problematic though. People lose interest.
