  1. Funny thing though, he didn’t know about it becoming a regular addition this soon. It’s still in the process but hopefully there won’t be any hang ups. The upcoming holidays should stagger the airings a bit but this is still a bit of a gamble that nothing will go wrong.
  2. That would be great but these are my expectations even though I think it would be stupid to wait to start Scavengers Reign until early 2024 Either this if they're airing over Thanksgiving weekend: 11/18 - DS / Stone / One Piece x 2 / Shippuden / Rerun 11/25 - DS / Stone / One Piece x 2 / Shippuden / Rerun 12/02 - DS / Stone / One Piece x 2 / Shippuden / Rerun 12/09 - DS / Stone / One Piece x 2 / Shippuden / Rerun 12/16 - DS / Attack on Titan 2 Hour Finale 12/23 - Demon Slayer Mugen Train Marathon 12/30 - Attack on Titan Finale Part 1 and Part 2 Or this if they don't want to premiere anything on Thanksgiving weekend: 11/18 - DS / DS / Stone / One Piece / Shippuden / Rerun (same as 11/11) 11/25 - Demon Slayer Mugen Train Ep 1-4 Marathon 12/02 - DS / Stone / One Piece x 2 / Shippuden / Rerun 12/09 - DS / Stone / One Piece x 2 / Shippuden / Rerun 12/16 - DS / Attack on Titan 2 Hour Finale 12/23 - Demon Slayer Mugen Train Marathon 12/30 - Attack on Titan Finale Part 1 and Part 2 Maybe the Titan Finale can premiere on 12/02, in which case just flip the schedules for 12/02 and 12/16
  3. True, the double up of Demon Slayer could be just one week and then Dr. Stone is back at 12:30 and One Piece is back to 2 episodes but if that was the plan they might as well have held back Stone till 11/18 rather than premiere both the same night. Either way I don’t see double Demon Slayer lasting because it’s an odd number of eps and the next arc starts with a 46 minute episode. The double up was probably just to ensure they finish by Christmas. They can either double it up two weeks if they run no premier on November 25 or they can scale down to 1 episode and keep the schedule till Dec 23rd consistent. In my brain I was completely forgetting about Dr. Stone when I said all battle shounen. 😅 Though this arc will involve more fighting than some previous ones I think. Dr. Stone does help the variety to be sure. Demon Slayer and Shippuden are still pretty similar but it’s not nearly as bad as when the block had HxH, Black Clover, MHA and Boruto which all were cut from the same cloth as Naruto (though HxH’s story predates it). I know they’re movies/tv specials but Attack on Titan still counts so that’s 4 acquisitions this year. But yes they were sequels. They haven’t added a non-sequel acquisition since Made in Abyss season 1 early in 2022. That’s pretty freaking abysmal.
  4. Totally unexpected at this point and arguably a big deal but I’m honestly disappointed for several reasons. 1) Screws over barely month old Dr. Stone a bit to air episodes that are years old and they could have done right by both shows if the block was airing an hour earlier 2) It certainly looks like they sacrificed most of the year’s activity for one big show, we’ll see how it pays off or doesn’t 3) They went back to a known quantity instead of trying anything else first which isn’t helping them beat the “nothing but big shounen” accusations 4) Also not helping them beat the “spend all day hoping Sony will call back” accusations 5) The block is all Shonen Jump battle anime again unless they’re actually is a rerun at 2:30 that doesn’t fit that criteria 6) I’d much rather keep double One Piece than lose a slot I’d caution not to consider this a sign that Crunchyroll is back at the table. Aniplex still operates with some level of autonomy even though Sony owns both. Previously the issue was Demon Slayer became too expensive for Toonami. I’m sure it’s no coincidence that it’s a series they previously had a contract for just like Food Wars, My Hero Academia and Dr. Stone and Attack on Titan. If Jujutsu Kaisen, Spy x Family, Chainsaw Man or another series with no prior contract shows up on Toonami, then we can start to entertain the idea of Crunchyroll regularly making deals with Toonami.
  5. Wow it’s a dang movie this time. Gonna need 4 slots at 21-22 mins per half hour. They’d actually have to expand the block 1 night to air both parts. Might as well go all out and run the 2 hour finale followed by the first 1.5 hour special from 2am-3:30 then repeat the finale from 3:30-5:30 and either cap it off with an episode of Samurai Jack or Unicorn or just awkwardly transition to Futurama or another comedy. They’ll need a bit more time to dub the equivalent of 4 episodes but theoretically they could have it ready for December 16th, 9th or even 2nd.
  6. I'll throw one additional consideration in for the heck of it. Maybe they don't dial Shippuden back to 1 episode like most of us are expecting. Maybe the whole 2AM hour is new Shippuden on the regular line-up weeks in November and December? We think they'd want to hold back Shippuden as not to lose a stable premiere but maybe they're thinking the opposite and want to finish it sooner in 2024 rather than later. If they have Scavengers on top of Dr. Stone then they could potentially have a full block of premieres if they keep Shippuden doubled up. It would be a nice gesture to the long time Shippuden viewers at least.
  7. I didn’t say they were no longer on Crunchyroll. Fena, Black Lotus and Shenmue are still streaming on Crunchyroll in Japanese. Black Lotus also has a Spanish dub on CR but the other two do not. The English dubs of the first two were still available to buy as VOD and direct download on iTunes, Amazon and Vudu until now. Black Lotus was also still rerunning on Adult Swim Canada until about September.
  8. All these and more have now been entirely removed for purchase on digital stores. That was the only remaining legal way to watch them (except for Fena and Black Lotus in Japanese on Crunchyroll). Oddly enough you can still buy Megas XLR and Sym-Bionic Titan on iTunes/Apple TV. I guess they were lucky to be written off before the streaming age changed which distribution rights are a affected by tax right offs.
  9. I also have all the BDs and haven’t watched past the 2nd yet. Symphogear is rad.
  10. Okay so IGPX might only air one night for now. Sounds like the materials won’t be ready for a full run yet. And 5 episodes definitely wasn’t an option. They have SOME other options for reruns but unless they start Scavengers on the 11th and keep double OP they might very well be hiding a block cut in the DST schedule again. 😒
  11. Discotek seems to at least have the streaming rights to Gunbuster which of course they sold to Crunchyroll. If they have the TV rights then playing the new dub on Toonami would be fantastic. I know DeMarco likes Giant Robo at least so I wonder if he has pursued that one.
  12. Scavengers Reign is 12 episodes. They’ll be releasing 3 per week on Max and finish on November 9th. They can’t finish it on Adult Swim before 2024 unless they run more than one a week. Toonami might actually get the network premieres if it starts on November 11th. Just seems odd for them to run the first episode on AS the day the final 3 drop on Max but it could happen. Whatever the case may be, they could run Dr. Stone and Scavengers co-currently from November 11th till mid February taking some nights off in December. If they have both on November 11th then maybe they’ll run a regular block on November 25th so they don’t get further behind on Dr. Stone. Suppose they could just do a needless marathon after both but they might as well run a regular lineup if the rest is just OP x 2, Shippuden and IGPX. Boy I hope they don’t put off airing the last Titan special until the week after Dr. Stone finishes. CR can get that dub finished before January I would imagine. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/scavengers-reign-season-1-many-082940619.html?guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAHMuz9Nds-2O6qZcKQllRuJJFKltUygK_EM_OESn7hpDBzRSQf5cDPUK00aw7bkUUnOxfUQ_eRca4iVw2naeO2iOa3zuNY-iVBOnMeGV2y8D_lGz9eaZGRkLjRcUeLvBtD0BwTMQBe8_DLReUzVpsa_GWuPuxhrCx-it2Ku173Am
  13. Potentially. Be it Scavengers or a fresh acquisition. Since when did you start believing in double premiere nights again? 😝
  14. Thanks to a Saturday Facebook update (how unusual) we know they have Dr. Stone for November 11th and IGPX remastered is airing during DST after two airings of the first Titan special. Probably an easy guess that November 11th will look like this. 12:00 AM - Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 12:30 AM - One Piece 01:00 AM - One Piece 01:30 AM - Naruto: Shippuden 02:00 AM - Shippuden / IGPX / Other Rerun 02:30 AM - IGPX Remastered / Other Rerun I’m not suggesting an hour of IGPX but I’m not sure if it would get the first rerun slot or the second. Scavengers Reign wraps on Max on November 9th so maybe it will start on Toonami on the 11th but now I’m thinking they’ll wait till January or perhaps when Dr. Stone: New World ends. That said, I’m all for this: 12:00 AM - Scavengers Reign 12:30 AM - Dr. Stone: New World Part 2 01:00 AM - One Piece 01:30 AM - One Piece 02:00 AM - Naruto: Shippuden 02:30 AM - IGPX Remastered Uzumaki can show up in January, maybe.
  15. Discotek never had the TV rights nor presumedly the streaming rights to IGPX. Toonami got them from IG in 2013 and I’m pretty sure they have kept the TV rights since then but haven’t utilized them since 2015 when the block lost 3:30-6AM. Discotek rarely obtains TV rights but can help mediate negotiations for them as with Lupin Part 4 and 5 working with TMS. Dr. Stone is back the following week thankfully but reairing the Titan special twice on the same night is begging people to tune out. I’d rather have 5 episodes of IGPX or a marathon of Dr. Stone.
  16. Watched the first 3 episodes. It’s fantastic. They put so much thought into the planet’s ecosystem and the story has been gripping. When this airs on AS it will be the best thing since Primal season 2.
  17. In that case he did at least have a super low hanging fruit joke name whereas this time they're like "yup Hugh Jackman lives in this universe, the real guy not some slightly off-brand version"
  18. This is the first actual celebrity being used as themself IIRC and I think it’s also the first time they used a character from another IP flat out with The Predator. It just felt lazy. The two things mildly amusing to me both involved Gene. When his riding mower slowly headed toward the car because they wouldn’t let him stop it (this was ruined by the random bike rider crashing into the car as well) and the fast food guy taking the best friend combo away from Gene and being annoyed that he lied.
  19. The voices were fine but I don’t think I laughed even once. It wasn’t a funny episode.
  20. I will buy IGPX a third time
  21. Yes I suppose if they did intend to get an extra airing out of that Titan special then DST is the best night to do it besides whenever they can run both specials the same night (and you just know they will do that once). They can start whatever rerun they might have the following week in November.
  22. Well would you look at that... Crunchyroll finally made a FAST Channel. Though it's not on PlutoTV or TubiTV (neither is HiDive but I digress). The big deal is that it's coming to Amazon FreeVee next week but beyond that it will be on Roku Channel, LG Channels and Vizio WatchFree+. It's at least on Roku and LG right now. https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/announcements/2023/10/11/crunchyroll-launches-24-7-anime-channel-in-the-us The list of shows promised to air there includes more recent series like Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, Ranking of Kings, Moriarty the Patriot, Arifrueta, To Your Eternity, and Horimiya along with older series like Psycho-Pass and ASA alumni Code Geass. That's what's listed in the PR at least but there's several more shows that are already on the channel including Ningen Fushin, Requieum of the Rose King, Plunderer, Angels of Death, Bofuri, Harukana Receive and Soul Eater. Code Geass hasn't been shown yet and to my knowledge neither have Psycho-Pass, Ranking of Kings, Moriarty the Patriot, To Your Eternity or Horimiya. Several other series are being regularly promoted on the channel during breaks including Yu Yu Hakusho, Log Horizon, Welcome to Demon School Iruma-Kun, A Couple of Cookoos, Radiant and Eureka 7 AO. Seriously E7 AO, not the original... just... why? I was going to berate them for launching in October without many thematically appropriate anime but they are at least airing Soul Eater and Angels of Death right now and probably will start Iruma-kun soon. They also run promos for Attack on Titan: The Final Season and Jujutsu Kaisen but those specifically plug the CR app and it's massive library. It's unlikely they'll be showing either. You'd think they'd promote Spy x Family, Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man at bare minimum but so far none have had promos. I'm not that impressed with the scheduling so far because with that huge library at their disposal it's a waste to only show a handful of series per day in 4 episode chunks that repeat a few times. I tuned in much of yesterday and saw bits of Ningen Fushin, Angels of Death, Sugar Apple Fairy Tale and Requiem of the Rose King and most of the four episodes aired for Arifrueta, Plunderer and Bofuri. I checked a few times and know that Bofuri and Requiem of the Rose King have aired at least 3 times in the past 24 hours, possibly 4. And have seen everything but Ningen Fushin show up at least twice and it was the first four episodes every time any show aired. It's honestly a lot better for variety sake than the way HiDive's FAST will straight up marathon a show for 10+ episodes but it also means it will take a while to get through even a 12 episode show if they keep repeating the same 4 episodes. It's also rather odd that they are already airing several shows they didn't mention in the press release while not airing several shows that were in the press release. Of all things to leave out of the PR... Soul Eater and Yu Yu Hakusho? Those would surely catch some interest. Currently there's 3-4 ads breaks per episodes usually right after the OP, 1 at the eyecatch, 1 shortly before the episode ends and sometimes an additional spot. Annoyingly the additional one can pop up so close to another break that you literally have a few minutes of episode before another break happens. They fill that space with their "we'll be right back" bumps for 30 seconds to 2 minutes, their custom promos and some 3rd party ads (there wasn't any on day 1 but they started today). In a way it's a better version of Neon Alley that doesn't cost any money to watch but the presentation is pretty bland even if they make amusing nods to many anime tropes in their "we'll be back" bumps. They put good effort into at least some of the promos while others feel really flat but given they've made about a dozen or so promos for the first batch I suppose they can't all be winners. The AoT promo and the Radiant promo are probably the best ones and use good music selections. The JJK one feels so generic and the Code Geass one feels like they don't know what show they're promoting. Actually the two slightly different E7 AO promos sell the show to me rather well. Someone really went to bat for that polarizing sequel. They made three Yu Yu Hakusho promos already, two focused on the first arc with a longer and shorter version and one focusing on the Dark Tournament. That's neat. Anyway... this is a thing now and while it might not actually make shows more difficult for Toonami to license it could very well close off a much larger portion of the CR backlog. Now anything CR doesn't value too highly can be used as additional content for their FAST channel. That can surely affect prices and perceived value for any of their titles that are currently underutilized. https://x.com/Sketch1984/status/1712588226811310434?s=20
  23. For real though this doesn't look like it has any business airing on Adult Swim, even more so than any prior Dragon Ball series. Looks can be deceiving I suppose... Granted they're airing kids shows on AS regularly these days but most of them are CN originals they can show for free. It certainly would feel odd next to Lazarus or NInja Kamui but then again so would One Piece much less My Adventures with Superman or Unicorn: Warriors Eternal. At any rate, seeing the Super manga fanboys seethe gives me life.
  24. That's my guess as well. Sure would be nice if it would premiere on Toonami and encore on another day but of course they can't even give us that much.
  25. Till now it was still up in the air but this article says it will not be exclusive to Max. Its nowhere on the schedule in October so far so its anyone’s guess how many weeks behind the Max release the Adult Swim broadcasts will be. But regardless, it’s nice to know it won’t be exclusive to Max. Not a peep about Toonami anywhere in the article though which doesn’t give me high expectations that the Adult Swim premieres will be on Toonami.
