  1. if you have used any....that is
  2. because Anime is A Investment(not just in money but time) and requires many people to be on board it isn't something you just casually do with little thought or effort put into it it's something that requires a lot of time invested into it and with that time invested....People need to be paid If You Look At Something Like Spirited Away Or...A More Recent Example Demon Slayer and say "yeah that could still exist without Capitalism" you are nuts Artists need to be paid for the time they spent on such projects....
  3. however...Nielsen Ratings are a small part of the picture and a very inaccurate one at that so maybe it's best not to look at them as The Deciding Factor in What toonami should do because then you start running the block based off what a small sample size audience wants and that just doesn't make much sense now there's so many factors to look into...most of which we do not have access to and the one we do have access to the majority of us aren't even counted in it(I've never been selected for the nielsen survey and i doubt many people have either)
  4. how do this topic go from "should anime dub va's be paid better?" to "Capitalistic Pig Dogs!"
  5. so looking at the ratings for the HQ Marathon....i can already see some of those people pointing and saying "SEE! this proves the block needs more american cartoons because three of the airings broke 400K Viewers....when was the last time anime did that on toonami?!"
  6. three of the episodes cracked 400K Viewers(which is better than anything the regular toonami block can muster)maybe this is proof that Toonami Needs More DC Content On The Block?
  7. voice actors aren't really valued that much by the mainstream media....they believe unless it's a well known celebrity nobody will care.... and speaking of disney it's a shame that after Disney stopped handling movies like that.....Japanese Animated Films went back to being Limited Release(even the bigger name series like MHA And Demon Slayer Might Only Have 1'000 theaters or so in the country playing them)
  8. it sucks that there's assumption that voice actors aren't real actors....it doesn't help that the only time you see a voice actor on any talk show is when it's some mainstream celebrity doing voice work for an animated film someone who typically doesn't do voice work and isn't the best person to ask what it's like
  9. and that really is disappointing....as it continues this vibe of Anime being this bizarre obscure piece of entertainment that the average american has no clue about while it's no surprise Kari Wahlgren's name is rising due to rick and morty....it sucks that it's due to a character whose personality is about as interesting as cardboard and her only purpose is "the girl that morty can never get"
  10. Stuff like this happens to many notable Anime Dub VA's too and it's depressing because they don't get paid enough to deal with that kind of crap behavior from psycho fans hell they aren't even classified as celebrities they are below washed up movie stars and tv actors that are irrelevant now... but people still keep harassing them anyways
  11. i can see why this is happening though....hollywood wants to capitalize on anime's popularity however much like MCU Movies there's the urge to make them more appealing to the average american
  12. I Know he probably won't come up in the film because he shows up much later in the series but how the hell would you handle fatgum in live action? he works within the manga and anime just fine but once you put him in live action there's this question that needs to be asked "why the hell does he look so silly and cartoony when he's fat?" there are mutant quirks out there that affect the user's general appearance and some who have just inherited it through they're parents however that isn't the case with fatgum....We See He Looks perfectly normal when he isn't fat but as soon as he becomes a heckin chonker he turns into this goofball....(it's not related to his quirk allows him to tank hits and absorb enemies with his fat...something that he has to build up naturally)
  13. isn't that a problem though? ads are suppose to find you not the other way around I've seen clips uploaded on adultswim's youtube channel but haven't seen them used as ads during youtube videos or anything like that adultswim wants this to be a major hit and I'm not really seeing the marketing being put there for it to be treated as one typically you don't really see adultswim advertisements during CN Hours
  14. where's the advertising for this?...Seen some ads here and there on adultswim but nothing outside that...No Ads online either
  15. which is why i mentioned it....it's a recent example of how these dub va's need to be paid more otherwise more situations like that will happen....especially during the pandemic
  16. speaking of box office results...it's always annoyed me that even the biggest anime movies in recent hisory(Such as Demon Slayer Mugen Train)can only muster a few thousand theaters showing it
  17. I'm guessing Jojo And One Piece were just too weird for the average american viewer counted in Nielsen Ratings As For Attack On Titan...the wait between seasons probably made a lot of those casual viewers forget all about it Demon Slayer....No Clue maybe it Seemed too Foreign to them i agree though we have no real idea what kind of reach toonami still has because Nielsen Ratings aren't a good indicator of Popularity knowing how they work and how most of us aren't even counted in them(It's a sample size platter sort of thing)
  18. the example i stated Was Josh Grelle who was so close to losing they're home because of one commercial they couldn't be in and at the time they were recording lines for Part 1 of Attack on titan's final season(Armin) A Commercial would have made things a lot easier but without commercial time it becomes more stress full on the VA's especially when conventions aren't an option in the pandemic
  19. and the pandemic really made things harder on them due to conventions being shutdown even now with some starting back up there's not gonna be as much of a presence from major names as there was back in 2019(Pre-Covid 19)
  20. MHA Could have been A Major Hit on toonami but due to Hulu....It Just wasn't able to air on the block until 2018 that's hard to believe isn't it? that MHA's only been with toonami for three years the fact it was tied up in crap with Hulu meant by the time it did air on toonami it wouldn't have as much of an impact as it would have if it had aired sooner
  21. especially since the incident where Tokoyami(MHA)'s Dub VA was dealing with the possibility of losing they're home since they weren't gonna appear in a commercial that one commercial put them into panic mode....because they weren't making enough money doing they're job it's really sad because we all know about The People Who Eventually Graduated From Anime and went onto bigger and better things(examples being troy baker and laura bailey) where they now find themselves making far far far more money than they ever did dubbing anime and even if they had never ventured out into AAA Video games and American cartoons chances are they wouldn't be getting paid any better working on anime dubs
  22. i think a lot of it does have to do with funimation no longer working with Vic Mignogna as they feel the company betrayed him and framed him for something he didn't do(Any Discussion involving funimation online typically has a good chance of being turned into a vic mignogna discussion) just working for funimation means you are liable to be harassed by Vic Fans online...
  23. we all know VA's that do dub work for anime are typically paid peanuts and see far more money from something like a single mcdonalds commercial than an entire season of a popular anime but should that change? I Ask because it's become apparent that unless you really have nowhere else to go just have a passion for anime or have A Larger role at the company(Such as many at Funimation) there's little reason to hang around...shit even if you do enjoy anime a lot that might not be enough to keep you in the line of anime dub work
