  1. Blatant edgelordism
  2. Witch From Mercury 16 A lot of the school stuff in this show still misses me (feels like a deflated version of Utena's dynamics), but starting from the moment the show finally won me over. Shame it took half the series to get there.
  3. Some info about the anime production: https://toyokeizai.net/articles/-/672004 S1 was a success, but because it wasn't JJK-level huge (in Japan at least) and Otaku decrying the anime's cinema-literate style and wanting more generic shonen shit I guess, MAPPA will be shifting gears in how they approach the property on the future. There's also reports that S1's director has stepped down from the role, so I hope this isn't a One Punch Man S1 > S2 situation but...
  4. 6-9pm: Soft Core 9p-12a: Hardcore 12-3a: Furry / Amputee block (Hentai on Saturdays) 3-6a: Excretion Central
  5. Just get rid of CN and rename it [Adult Swim Jr.] at this point.
  6. Funny, the Gundam with the most annoying MC raking in the biggest $$$.
  7. Relegation should be a thing in American sports.
  8. ^ I thought HBO Max would just transform its existing app to Max? Otherwise, expect a bunch of confused subscribers to bail.
  9. Completed Gankutsuou. I didn't completely get it the 1st time around as a teen but thought it was cool. Now I can confirm it's a masterwork. I will say, anime age inflation is real because you're introduced to 2 of the MCs as they leave home for weeks at a time for a moon casino pussy quest and they're FUCKING 15. THE FUCK. Considering everything else they have to deal with you'd think they're at minimum 18 to 21, but at the same time what is Albert's situation? He's not at school but he's got no job. Oh shit, I just realized this is also an anime version of The Graduate. Bravo Gonzo, goddamn. layers まタケ
  10. Whelp time to reverse this trend: I'm a few episodes into Gankutsuou.
  11. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love being right, this shit is fucking TRASH. The PS1 cutscene stuck-at-SD Gonzo visuals, the music, the goddamn kid Anakin-level "yipeeeee"-ness ay fuck nah Last Exile is obsolete. My future work is not so much a spite manga anymore as it is a service: A replacement for dead untertainment. So being I dropped that LE rewatch after an episode, I moved on to Gonzo's succeeding work Gankutsuou and what a night & day difference in texture and mood. I had to stop after like 10 minutes unfortunately because pre-HD digital animation injures my cornea when trying to watch it on my OLED, but luckily I found a semi-upscale of the JP Blu-ray so that should help me out. Oh, and the bassist from THE STRANGLERS crooning over the opening? The post-punk masters responsible for "No More Heroes" and "Golden Brown"??! Fuck...
  12. Finished Now And Then, Here And There: A dour slog with an insufferably righteous MC. I love characters suffering as much as the next guy, just don't bore me in the process. Made In Abyss is much more effective misery porn in comparison (which is funny to say because I wouldn't be surprised if there was some influence from N&T, H&T). Last Exile and Gankutsuou are next. Haven't seen either in over a decade through some really shitty Kissanime streams but I remember really digging the latter. With LE however, I recall being pissed off enough at the show squandering its potential to make a spite manga. Maybe I'll change my mind this time (maybe I won't).
  13. Lawrence Kasdan wrote a draft? That sounds like a lost holy grail the likes of Gore Verbinski's Bioshock.
  14. Interlaced beta tape scans of Pilot Candidate confirmed for 5/20.
  15. Midway through Now And Then, Here And There and I'm annoyed the MC has no other character traits other than "heroic."
  16. Still not seen S2 and not sure I care enough to see more (I paused Mugen Train halfway through and never got around to watching the rest).
