2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences
Jman replied to NewBluntsworth's topic in Current Events
https://www.salon.com/2023/11/28/its-a-good-thing-women-wont-date/ Apparently women are less likely to date Trump voters to the point a Washington Post Op-Ed decried it. Salon shot back, comparing Trump voting to other repugnant habits. -
Air fried chicken drumsticks with potato salad and a mixed green. Been eating healthier lately, toning down my alcohol intake, etc. No idea how long it will last.

Elon Musk now owns Twitter, apparently trying to run it into the ground

Musk remains defiant in the face of people telling him to knock the racist shit off. -
Cat’s Eye - A Stephen King anthology with a distinct lack of Maine. Surprisingly fun though, with the first two segments running on black comedy while the third is a bit more “tug on the heartstrings.” 8/10.

“Aqua Teen Hunger Force” Season Twelve Talkback
Jman replied to [classic swim]'s topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
It’s like they never left. Mostly because it’s the same kind of humor, the same actors, and the same sort of weird ass plots. Granted, Dana Snyder post Shake in the Ghost and Molly McGee is basically playing a Disney-approved Master Shake, so it’s not too hard to switch back. -

They’re about to realize that old people money is no match for Trump’s cult-like fervor. But hey, they can afford to blow a few hundred million. -
One believes in ghosts. The other believes in aliens. Can these two co-exist?

2024 Presidential Elections: the schadenfreude commences

These pricks are great for drumming up enthusiasm with the loud internet crowds, but they’re bad for business. It’s especially notable when companies can’t even put on the air of being welcoming when the brand is associated with turbo racists. -
Stuff like that is probably why Gracey won't film a movie unless Kishimoto signs off on the script. I'm hoping Yu Yu does well when it debuts with the Alice in Borderland/K-Drama crowd, because that's when the floodgates open and we get adaptations of stuff no one's tried to do stuff with for decades. That means a Martian Successor Nadiesco movie and crazy stuff like that.

There were weekly talkbacks on the Toonami forums for the various sequels. People were...not kind.

Breaking News! Lycoris Recoil coming to Toonami January 20th
Jman replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
At its core, Cells at Work is edutainment. Very bloody edutainment, but edutainment all the same about how the body works and how diseases work. My guess is they looked at how cancer functioned as this uncontrollable mutation and reproduction of cells and saw it as more inherently tragic than a foreign virus. I still believe #FuckCancer, but I get why they went that route in the name of educating the audience about how it functions. -

Right from the horse’s mouth. Credit where it’s due, it takes guts to admit Kojima laughed you out of a building. -

The Metal Gear story is only notable because Kojima laughed DeMarco's ass out of the building. He never had a chance to make Metal Gear. That being said, the Metal Gear movie is eyeball deep in Development Hell, despite TECHNICALLY casting Oscar Issac as Solid Snake. So maybe it's a draw.
