A lot of the current era of adult animated comedies are writer based rather than animation based, and it shows. The Simpsons was a big example, arguably when it was at its peak with the writing team was when Matt Groening was laying down the law about how animation had to be on-model at all times to avoid undercutting the jokes being written. These days, with the majority of those comedies driven by comedians and writers, the animation is the last thing on their minds. Hell, if it was just limited to comedy outside of the big indie scene, it’d be one thing, but even action shows from the West are being accused of crap animation. This exchange occurred an hour ago at SDCC with the creator of Invincible: The animation is just not what they’re worried about.

It just hit me that over the past two weeks, both Jim Ross and Ric Flair had announced they had successfully beaten cancer. Man, we’re all getting older.
