Toonami Asia shutting down at the end of the month...
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Nobody should be fearful of this regarding our Toonami. It still has new content planned to air through 2021. Maybe you should proofread your posts before you send them. I never heard much about Toonami Asia, but honestly, it's hard for me to accept than any version of Toonami other than the O.G. could build an audience when exported overseas. You don't have the nostalgia factor that keeps some people tuning in even to this day... everyone would rather play ball with the streaming services. Also, I never hard much about these foreign versions of the block to begin with. This one apparently had a unique block host named Nami, but I never heard anything about them. I guess it never had much unique block content created for it in general, which is arguably half the point of Toonami to begin with. -
The Toonami Ratings Thread 1.0 :You are on a new board
Blatch replied to StarPanda's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Toonami wasn't irrelevant in 2014. Back then, the streaming-centric market that envelops us today hadn't really developed. Netflix wasn't known for original content outside of House of Cards and the revival of Arrested Development, and most of the other companies hadn't even started with that. Crunchyroll wasn't in vogue yet (and very far off from producing their own shows), but it was around and somewhat popular. I find the Neon Alley reference to be interesting... and kind of hilarious. The fact that they were a streaming service set up like a linear TV channel is just a special kind of incompetence, even if they did have some on-demand offerings. I actually watched a few episodes of the Madoka Magica dub there back in late 2013, albeit mostly through the latter method. -
This seems like heavy wishful thinking without even an unreputable source. I'm not buying it at all. Still, I would not put it past them to make another season of this. If Etotama can do it, pretty much anything is possible.

But yeah, this was a fairly good night. DBZ Kai must have propped everything else up. -

Believe it or not, Outlaw Star is actually back on the stream this week, but airing Episodes 16 through 20... which is an educated guess, since they're showing #18 right now. But yeah, it looks like we're going to be able to watch more of one show, albeit over a longer period of time. -

Well, Subaru and Emilia's VAs aren't as well known, but the side characters are voiced by pretty much every industry regular you would expect. Rem's VA (Brianna Knickerbocker) has been in stuff I've watched, most notably in the Love Live! dub as Eli's younger sister. -

I'm surprised they brought new ones in now rather than after Outlaw Star's end. On the other hand, it's typically three months between every refresh. -

And I guess finding an excuse for him to say "Suit up." Of course JoJo's was the highlight for this week, and that special Oingo Boingo Brothaaaaaaaas ED will probably worm its way through my head for weeks. I did like HxH, thought. People seemed to almost instantaneously ignore the dapper butterfly C.A., probably because Neferpitou is standing right there next to him. Also, Bisky having another appearance made me sad I almost completely ignored Greed Island when it ran on Toonami last year. And the dubbed BDs of that arc aren't coming out for a while... maybe I'll start saving to buy the Yorknew set soon. -

To my knowledge, Crunchyroll has no affiliation with BC's Toonami airing, probably since they focus on subs and thus only have the rights to that one. You can prove this through a quick look at the credits. -

This show has certainly spent a while in purgatory, but at least it's done better than KonoSuba!... which premiered one broadcast season earlier and has not gotten a licensing announcement yet. Or Mr. Osomatsu, which (premiered in 2015,) actually got licensed by Viz and they said they were dubbing it, but it's been several months since that without any other announcements. As for this show airing on Toonami, I'm not saying a word. -

That's probably because the second season spent more time on artsy fartsy episodes rather than humorous ones. And then there was the High School Musical parody, which angered you so much you almost dropped the show. -
Actually, I messaged them on Twitter.

Yeah, I hadn't put it back up yet. But we should be good now. -
This is making me think that whatever new show airs on the 24th, if at all, won't be the intended Lupin replacement, since not announcing it by this point isn't good form. They probably had something planned to replace Outlaw Star all along anyway.

I wonder if I should be the designated person who does this show's threads from now on. Meilag seems to get all the ones for Dragon Ball without anyone questioning it. In fact, nobody even took this thread after more than an hour of opportunity. Why the heck would you sleep on goddamn JoJo's like this? Does it not getting a thread before Black Clover means people care even less?

I guess anyone who updated their avatar in February had it corrupted. I can't even change mine to something different. -

Well, the stream is playing Outlaw Star as advertised, and they're currently on #15. I don't know exactly which episodes are airing or if it's different in any way. On a different note, Dimension W's streaming rights recently expired after two years and yet no one seemed to notice. I thought the big man who made this thread would chime in and say they should give it one more streaming rotation. -
dst Toonami will still run 5.5 hours on return to DST, March 10th
Blatch replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Was there ever any reason to assume otherwise would be happening? But coincidentally, this will be the first time Toonami runs until 5:00 a.m. until before the large block cut back in January 2015. It's kind of cool... but not for our sleeping patterns. -
Maybe Sentai decides to deal with Toonami again and we get The Big O (in HD) replacing Outlaw Star? I mean, I've had this feeling that whatever was going to replace Lupin will indeed go in this slot on the 24th, but if it wasn't a very big show, it's hard for me to see what legal issues could bog it down. FLCL 1 would be best getting a rerun outside of Toonami... well, maybe if they still had an 8:00 p.m. airing of Dragon Ball Super. It's going to be hard to schedule in this case.

Blatch replied to PokeNirvash's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Someone from Twitter implied that they actually aired the Japanese broadcast version of the episode, because the guy who got impaled on the telephone pole at the end had his death censored. Either way, I don't know, but they could've quickly painted over the comic book before the episode was sent to Atlanta for airing. I'm not expecting it to be on the Blu-ray release.
